Action Metals Recycling was founded by Lane Ketler in 1990.Lane’s recycling involvement dates back over 30 years. He learned the metal business from his father, who co-owned a metal recycling business in Lethbridge, Alberta. Lane started his business in Kelowna because he could see the need for a metal recycling service in the growing community. He also wanted to build a company that would bring his family opportunity. Action Metals began with Lane, his wife Denise, and two employees on a one acre lot at Willowpark Rd.In 2007, Action Metals partnered with ABC Recycling. This partnership recognizes each company’s strong family values and "business-on-a-hand shake" mind-set. Together they opened a brand new location in Kelowna located at 3258 Highway 97 North.
With over 30 employees, including Lane’s family, and service areas throughout the Southern Okanagan Interior, this state of the art location features the best in environmental management and safety. The location also has a rail spur offering our customers more alternatives to their recycling needs.Action Metals adopted the ABC Recycling brand in 2012. You can visit any ABC Recycling location throughout BC and receive the integrity of service you are accustomed to.
ABC Recycling, Campbell River opened in 1993 with the purchase of the property on Terminal Place. With the ability to serve all of Vancouver Island, the Campbell River yard, led by Dave Miller is the answer to all your needs on the Island.Roll off bin, trailer, flat deck, crane truck, off site demo, barge service, to name a few , are services available through ABC Recycling Campbell River.
The history of ABC Recycling is intertwined with the legacy of the Yochlowitz family. Joseph Yochlowitz and his wife Sarah immigrated to Canada from Poland at the turn of the last century, eventually settling in Vancouver. In 1912, Joseph began a scrap peddling business, working the streets of the young city with horse and wagon. He was soon joined by his son, Daniel. In 1935, Daniel opened his own scrap metal business and, 14 years later, bought a building and established ABC Salvage and Metal Company.Over the years, subsequent generations of family members have joined the business, and leadership has been handed from Daniel to his son Harold, and from Harold to his eldest son, David. The company has continued to flourish so that today, third and fourth-generation family members are actively involved in growing ABC Recycling for future generations.
