At Fakuma 2024, the leading trade fair for industrial plastics processing, TotalEnergies Corbion will showcase how their scientists are evolving Luminy® PLA to meet the rigorous growing needs of consumers and brand owners.

Advancing Luminy® PLA Durability and Versatility

Historically associated with single-use packaging, PLA is now showing promise in durable goods, thanks to advancements in Luminy® PLA's heat resistance, mechanical strength, and weatherability through compounding. These developments make Luminy® PLA suitable for robust applications such as cosmetic jars, electronic components, and dishwasher-safe products. Additionally, innovations like flame-retardant and high-impact-resistant Luminy® PLA compounds are opening new possibilities in technically demanding areas where safety and durability are paramount.

Items developed with Luminy® PLA, will be on display including FDA-approved biobased pill bottles from Innovative Bottles and medical instruments from Bridea Medical. These solutions include developing closed loop recycling models that contribute to the circular economy, promoting the environmental sustainability of these vital sectors.
