SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The crude steel output by world countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) increased marginally during the month of September this year. The monthly production data suggests that output by the 64 countries reporting to the association has surged higher by nearly 2.9% over the previous year. These countries had accounted for almost 99% of the total world crude steel production in 2019.
The world crude steel production totalled 156.359 million tonnes (Mt) in September 2020, as compared with the output of 151.885 Mt in the same month a year before.
The Chinese crude steel production managed to record marginal rise, while all other major producing countries witnessed sharp dip in output. The country, whose output totalled 92.555 Mt, accounted for almost 60% of the global steel production.
