World Steel Association Declared 13th Steelie Award Winners

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The World Steel Association (worldsteel) announced proud winners of the 13^th Steelie Awards. The declaration of the awards, in six different categories, was made yesterday, 17^th October, 2022. The winners were selected from the shortlist announced earlier.

Ansteel Group Corporation Limited was named the winner of the ‘Excellence in low-carbon steel production’ category, for its low carbon dioxide emission blast furnace charge solution based on low basicity high silicon pellets and its application. The ‘Innovation of the year’ award was won by POSCO for the STS high-speed extended width AC electrolytic pickling technology. Also, POSCO’s process of recycling shell waste for sustainable steelmaking won the ‘Innovation of the year’ award.

Tata Steel APCI-a tool to support innovation and customer engagement through life cycle thinking in the steel value chain was adjudged the winner in the ‘Excellence in Life Cycle Assessment’ category of Steelie awards. The ‘Excellence in education and training’ category of award was won by Ternium for its Competences Certification Programme for Risky Tasks (CCRT). The winner of the ‘Excellence in communications programmes’ was Gerdau S.A. for its program titled ‘How the century-old Gerdau transformed its image and became the steel company with the highest global engagement’.

The Steelie awards, judged by selected expert panels, recognize outstanding contributions to global steel industry by individuals and member companies.
