WGC Highlighted Gold’s Key Role as a Strategic Long-Term Investment

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): As per latest report published by the World Gold Council (WGC), gold plays a key role as a strategic long-term investment. The strategy to stay invested in gold for a longer term has helped investors recognize the gold’s value by taking advantage of the yellow metal’s safe haven status during periods of economic uncertainties and geopolitical crises.

The world gold trade body noted that the sources of demand for gold are quite diverse, such as an investment, a reserve asset, gold jewellery, and a technology component. Gold promises to enhance investor portfolio by delivering long-term returns, boosting diversification and by offering liquidity. The combined impact of the above three benefits make gold a clear complement to stocks and bonds.

Investment in gold that is responsibly sourced and delivered from a supply chain that adheres to high ESG standards will help promote a shift towards better environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards. In addition, gold investment tends to reduce investors’ exposure to climate-related risks, WGC report said.

Gold has delivered annualised returns of around 8% since 1971, which is significantly higher than bonds and commodities and comparable to equities.
