Scrap Metal: Weekly Price Report- November 8, 2024

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The following report details the weekly global market price trends for different scrap metal categories on the Scrap Monster Price Index for the first week of November this year (November 1- November 7, 2024):

Copper Scrap Prices

The price of copper scrap increased by 1.72% over the previous week.

North America

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright increased by 1.68% over the previous week. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing was up 1.72% from the start of the week, closing at $4.13 a pound. Likewise, the cost of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing increased by $0.07, from $3.96 to $4.03 per pound.

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the ScrapMonster Index increased from $4.16 to $4.23 per pound on Thursday, November 7, 2024, a week-over-week increase of 1.68%. Over the course of the week, the price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing went up from $4.06 to $4.13 per pound. The cost of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing increased by 1.77% to $4.03 per pound by the end of the week.

USA Midwest

#1 Copper Bare Bright's price rose 1.72% over the preceding week. Furthermore, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing had a 1.77% increase in price, ending the week at $4.03 per pound as opposed to $3.96 at the start. Over the course of the week, the price of copper scrap in the #2 Copper Wire and Tubing category increased slightly, from $3.86 to $3.93 per pound.

USA West Coast

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright was up 1.65% throughout the week, from $4.23 to $4.30 per pound, according to the ScrapMonster Index. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing increased slightly this week, from $4.13 to $4.20 per pound. By the conclusion of the week, the price of copper wire and tubing had increased by 1.74%, from $4.03 to $4.10 per pound.

China

The previous week, the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright remained constant at CNY 75,500 per MT. Additionally, there was no change in the price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing from the week before. Additionally, the Index's #2 Copper Wire and Tubing price remained stable at CNY 70,800 per MT.

Europe

The weekly price of #1 Copper Bare Bright stayed at $6,000 per tonne from the previous week. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing remained at $5,200 per tonne on the Index, unchanged from the previous week. Additionally, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing on the Index remained unchanged during the week ending November 7, 2024.

Brass Scrap Prices

The prices for brass scrap decreased by 1.29% from the previous week.

North America

By the conclusion of the week, the price of a pound of red brass had dropped from $2.41 to $2.38. On the Index, Yellow Brass was also down. The product's price decreased by 1.33%, from $2.26 to $2.23 per pound.

The price of red brass dropped by 1.24% from the previous week. Yellow Brass was also slightly less expensive per pound by the end of the week, dropping from $2.26 to $2.23.

USA Midwest

The price of Red Brass dropped somewhat from $2.39 to $2.36 per pound, or 1.26% less than the week before. On Index, Yellow Brass was also down. The commodity's price fell by 1.34%.

USA West Coast

As of Thursday, November 7, 2024, Red Brass was trading at $2.42 a pound, 1.22% less than the price the week before. Furthermore, Yellow Brass's price per pound decreased by 1.30% during the previous week.

China

Throughout the week, the price of Red Brass and Yellow Brass didn't vary. According to the Index, Red Brass's price was flat at CNY 38,000 per MT at the end of the week. Additionally, the price of yellow brass remained constant at CNY 35,350 per MT, which was the price recorded the week before.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

The Index's aluminum scrap prices increased marginally by 0.21% over the previous week.

North America

Over the preceding week, E.C. Aluminum Wire's price increased by 0.85%. During the week ending November 7, 2024, the price of 6063 Extrusions remained unchanged from the previous week. On the Index, old cast prices remained constant at $0.77 per pound week over week. Furthermore, UBC's pricing were stable from the week before.

The price of E.C. Aluminum Wire increased by 0.85% during the previous week. During the week ending November 7, 2024, the price of 6063 extrusions remained unchanged from the previous week. The Index showed no change in old cast prices from week to week. Additionally, UBC's prices did not change from the previous week.

USA Midwest

The price of E.C. Aluminum Wire has increased by 0.85% since a week ago. Last week, the price of the commodity closed at $1.19 per pound, up $0.01 per pound. In the meantime, 6063 Extrusions' price remained constant throughout the week. According to the ScrapMonster Index, there was no difference in the prices of UBC and Old Cast.

USA West Coast

E.C. aluminum wire's price was up 0.85% from the previous week, suggesting that it was on the rise. The ScrapMonster Index showed that the price of 6063 Extrusions had not changed from $0.90 per pound the week before. Over the course of the week, the Index's Old Cast prices remained stable. As of November 7, 2024, UBC's prices also showed no change.

China

At CNY 20,300 per MT, E.C. Aluminum Wire prices were up by 3.31% on the index. Furthermore, 6063 Extrusions' price edged higher by CNY 650 per MT from the previous week to close at CNY 19,200 per MT. As of November 7, 2024, Old Cast's price increased by 3.54% on the Index. With a weekly closing price of CNY 12,900 per MT, UBC prices increased by 2.38%.

Europe

For the whole week, the price of Old Cast remained at $1,050 a tonne. Additionally, according to the ScrapMonster Index, UBC prices were unchanged from the previous week at $1,250 a tonne.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

The prices of Stainless Steel scrap showed a weekly increase of 1.56%.

North America

A study of 304 SS Solid pricing pattern suggest that the commodity's price has somewhat increased from the previous week. Over the course of the week, the price per pound of the commodity was up by $0.01.

The price of 304 SS Solid increased by 1.56% over the previous week on November 7, 2024. The prices increased from $0.64 to $0.65 per pound during the week.

304 SS Solid prices were up modestly by 1.56%, to end the week at $0.65 per Lb.

For the week ending November 7, 2024, the price of 304 SS Solid went up by 1.56%, from $0.64 per pound the previous week to $0.65 per pound.

China

Over the course of the week, 304 SS Solid prices somewhat increased. The reported price of the commodity was up by 1.24% last week, from CNY 12,050 per MT to CNY 12,200 per MT.

Europe

Over the week, there was no change in the price of 304 SS Solid from the previous week's price of $1,070 per ton.

Steel Scrap Prices

Steel Scrap prices reported no change when compared with the previous week.

North America

The #1 HMS pricing did not change during the past week. The price of the commodity stayed at $315 per MT. At $380 per MT over the week, prices for shredded auto scrap also didn't change. Similarly, HMS 80/20 prices remained unchanged from the previous week at $260 per MT. Furthermore, #1 Busheling's pricing didn't change during the week.

USA Midwest

Over the previous week, #1 HMS's prices remained unchanged. During the week, Shredded Auto Scrap was similarly flat. The HMS 80/20 pricing on the Index remained constant at $260 per MT. The week ending November 7, 2024, saw no change in the price of #1 Busheling.

USA West Coast

#1 Over the previous week, there was no movement in HMS prices. The commodity's price remained stable at $315 per MT. Additionally, rates for shredded auto scrap remained unchanged from $380 per MT during the week. HMS 80/20 prices remained stable at $260 per MT, as they had the week before. Additionally, the price of #1 Busheling remained constant at $390 per MT throughout the week.

China

Over the previous week, there was no movement in #1 HMS prices. At CNY 1,630 per MT, the commodity's price remained stable.

Europe

The prices of #1 HMS recorded no variation in prices during the week, with prices holding steady at $170 per MT on the ScrapMonster Index. Shredded Auto Scrap witnessed no change from the prior week’s level of $130 per MT over the week.

Lead Scrap Prices

Prices for lead scrap were stable as compared to the previous week.

North America

Examining the pricing charts for scrap auto batteries, it is revealed that there had been no change in the commodity's prices from the previous week. The price per pound stayed steady at $0.22 for the entire week.

Throughout the week, there was no change in the price of scrap auto batteries from the previous week's price of $820 per ton.

Zinc Scrap Prices

Zinc Scrap prices recorded a modest decline of 1.36% in prices week-on-week.

North America

The price of New Zinc Die Cast decreased by 1.25% over the previous week, from $0.80 to $0.79 per pound. Week after week, Old Zinc Die Cast prices likewise decreased. As of Thursday, November 7, 2024, the closing price of the commodity was $0.67 a pound.
