Weekly Scrap Metal Price Report- November 15, 2024

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The weekly global market price trends for the various scrap metal categories on the Scrap Monster Price Index for the period of November 8–November 14, 2024, are described in the report that follows:

Copper Scrap Prices

The price of copper scrap declined by 5.24% over the previous week.

North America

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright decreased by 5.11% over the previous week. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing was down 5.24% from the start of the week, closing at $3.80 a pound. Likewise, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing dropped by $0.21, from $3.91 to $3.70 per pound.

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the ScrapMonster Index dipped from $4.11 to $3.90 per pound on Thursday, November 14, 2024, a week-over-week decline of 5.11%. Over the course of the week, the price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing went lower from $4.01 to $3.80 per pound. The price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing registered decline by 5.37% to $3.70 per pound by the end of the week.

USA Midwest

#1 Copper Bare Bright's price were down 5.24% over the preceding week. Furthermore, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing had a 5.37% decrease in price, ending the week at $3.70 per pound as opposed to $3.91 at the start. Over the course of the week, the price of copper scrap in the #2 Copper Wire and Tubing category slipped from $3.81 to $3.60 per pound.

USA West Coast

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright was down 5.02% during the week, falling from $4.18 to $3.97 per pound, according to the ScrapMonster Index. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing dropped this week, from $4.08 to $3.87 per pound. By the conclusion of the week, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing had declined by 5.28%, from $3.98 to $3.77 per pound.

China

The previous week, the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright recorded decline by CNY 3,850 per MT. The commodity price ended the week at CNY 72,150 per MT. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing witnessed a decline of 5.33% from the week before. Additionally, the Index's #2 Copper Wire and Tubing price was down by 5.40% week-on-week, with prices falling from CNY 71,300 per MT to CNY 67,450 per MT.

Europe

The weekly price of #1 Copper Bare Bright stayed at $6,000 per tonne from the previous week. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing remained at $5,200 per tonne on the Index, unchanged from the previous week. Additionally, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing on the Index remained unchanged during the week ending November 14, 2024.

Brass Scrap Prices

The prices for brass scrap decreased by 1.32% from the previous week.

North America

By the conclusion of the week, the price of a pound of Red Brass had dropped from $2.36 to $2.33. On the Index, Yellow Brass was also down. The product's price decreased by 1.36%, from $2.21 to $2.18 per pound.

The price of Red Brass dropped by 1.27% from the previous week. Yellow Brass was also slightly less expensive per pound by the end of the week, dropping from $2.21 to $2.18.

USA Midwest

The price of Red Brass dropped somewhat from $2.34 to $2.31 per pound, or 1.28% less than the week before. On Index, Yellow Brass was also down. The commodity's price fell by 1.37%.

USA West Coast

As of Thursday, November 14, 2024, Red Brass was trading at $2.37 a pound, 1.25% less than the price the week before. Furthermore, Yellow Brass's price per pound decreased by 1.33% during the previous week.

China

During the week ended November 14, 2024, the price of Red Brass and Yellow Brass recorded decline. According to the Index, Red Brass's price ended the week at CNY 37,700, down by CNY 400 per MT. Additionally, the price of Yellow Brass registered decline by 1.69% to close at CNY 34,850 per MT on the Index.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

The Index's aluminum scrap prices recorded decline by 3.70% over the previous week.

North America

Over the preceding week, E.C. Aluminum Wire's price declined by 3.42%. During the week ending November 14, 2024, the price of 6063 Extrusions was $0.85 per Lb, down by $0.03 per Lb from the previous week. On the Index, Old Cast prices recorded decline by 4% to end the week at $0.72 per pound. Additionally, UBC's pricing also recorded marginal decline by 3.95% from the week before.

The price of E.C. Aluminum Wire dropped by 3.42% during the previous week. During the week ending November 14, 2024, the price of 6063 Extrusions were down by 3.41% from the previous week. The Index showed 4% week-on-week decline in Old Cast prices. Also, UBC's prices registered decline by 3.95% during the previous week.

USA Midwest

The price of E.C. Aluminum Wire has declined by 3.42% since a week ago. Last week, the price of the commodity closed at $1.13 per pound, down $0.04 per pound. In the meantime, 6063 Extrusions' price recorded week-on-week decline by 3.49%. According to the ScrapMonster Index, there was marginal decline in the prices of UBC and Old Cast.

USA West Coast

E.C. Aluminum Wire's price was down 3.42% from the previous week. The ScrapMonster Index showed that the price of 6063 Extrusions has declined by 3.41% from the week before. Over the course of the week, the Index's Old Cast prices recorded 3.95% decline. As of November 14, 2024, UBC's prices also fell from $0.77 per pound to $0.74 per pound.

China

At CNY 19,400 per MT, E.C. Aluminum Wire prices were down by 5.60% on the Index. Furthermore, 6063 Extrusions' price inched lower by CNY 1,150 per MT from the previous week to close at CNY 18,300 per MT. As of November 14, 2024, Old Cast's price dropped by 5.97% on the Index. With a weekly closing price of CNY 12,450 per MT, UBC prices witnessed a decline of 4.23%.

Europe

For the whole week, the price of Old Cast remained at $1,050 a tonne. Additionally, according to the ScrapMonster Index, UBC prices were unchanged from the previous week at $1,250 a tonne.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices 

The prices of Stainless Steel scrap showed a weekly decline of 1.54%.

North America

A study of 304 SS Solid pricing pattern suggest that the commodity's price has somewhat decreased from the previous week. Over the course of the week, the price per pound of the commodity was down by $0.01.

The price of 304 SS Solid decreased by 1.54% over the previous week on November 14, 2024. The prices were down from $0.65 to $0.64 per pound during the week.

USA Midwest

304 SS Solid prices were up modestly down 1.54%, to end the week at $0.64 per Lb.

For the week ending November 14, 2024, the price of 304 SS Solid went down by 1.54%, from $0.65 per pound the previous week to $0.64 per pound.

China

Over the course of the week, 304 SS Solid prices somewhat declined. The reported price of the commodity was down by 1.62% last week, falling from CNY 12,350 per MT to CNY 12,150 per MT.

Europe

Over the week, there was no change in the price of 304 SS Solid from the previous week's price of $1,070 per ton.

Steel Scrap Prices

Steel Scrap prices reported no change when compared with the previous week.

North America

The #1 HMS pricing did not change during the past week. The price of the commodity stayed at $315 per MT. At $380 per MT over the week, prices for shredded auto scrap also didn't change. Similarly, HMS 80/20 prices remained unchanged from the previous week at $260 per MT. Furthermore, #1 Busheling's pricing didn't change during the week.

According to the ScrapMonster Index, #1 HMS's prices remained constant at $315 per MT during the week. Shredded Auto Scrap's prices for the week showed no change from $380 per MT the previous week. During the week, the price of HMS 80/20 was also fixed at $260 per MT. #1 Busheling prices on the Index were also unchanged.

USA Midwest

Over the previous week, #1 HMS's prices remained unchanged. During the week, Shredded Auto Scrap was similarly flat. The HMS 80/20 pricing on the Index remained constant at $260 per MT. The week ending November 14, 2024, saw no change in the price of #1 Busheling.

USA West Coast

#1 Over the previous week, there was no movement in HMS prices. The commodity's price remained stable at $315 per MT. Additionally, rates for shredded auto scrap remained unchanged from $380 per MT during the week. HMS 80/20 prices remained stable at $260 per MT, as they had the week before. Additionally, the price of #1 Busheling remained constant at $390 per MT throughout the week.

China

Over the previous week, there was no movement in #1 HMS prices. At CNY 1,630 per MT, the commodity's price remained stable.

Europe

The prices of #1 HMS recorded no variation in prices during the week, with prices holding steady at $170 per MT on the ScrapMonster Index. Shredded Auto Scrap witnessed no change from the prior week’s level of $130 per MT over the week.

Lead Scrap Prices

Prices for lead scrap were stable as compared to the previous week.

North America

Examining the pricing charts for scrap auto batteries, it is revealed that there had been no change in the commodity's prices from the previous week. The price per pound stayed steady at $0.22 for the entire week.

The prices of scrap auto batteries did not change on the index during the previous week. At CNY 6,850 per MT, the commodity's price remained same as of Thursday, November 14, 2024.

Europe

Throughout the week, there was no change in the price of scrap auto batteries from the previous week's price of $820 per ton.

Zinc Scrap Prices

Zinc Scrap prices recorded a modest decline of 1.40% in prices week-on-week.

North America

The price of New Zinc Die Cast decreased by 1.28% over the previous week, from $0.78 to $0.77 per pound. Week-on-week, Old Zinc Die Cast prices likewise decreased. As of Thursday, November 14, 2024, the closing price of the commodity was $0.65 a pound.
