Weekly Scrap Metal Price Report- November 1, 2024

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The following report details the weekly global market price trends for the different scrap metal categories on the Scrap Monster Price Index for the most recent week (October 25–October 31, 2024):

Copper Scrap Prices

The price of copper scrap decreased by 0.49% over the previous week.

North America

#1 Copper Bare Bright's price fell 0.48% from the previous week. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing ended the week at $4.05 per pound, down 0.49% from the beginning. Similarly, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing dropped from $3.97 to $3.95 per pound, a $0.02 decrease.

On Thursday, October 31, 2024, the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the ScrapMonster Index fell 0.48% week over week, from $4.17 to $4.15 per pound. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing dropped from $4.07 to $4.05 per pound during the course of the week. By the conclusion of the week, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing had dropped by 0.50% to $3.95 per pound.

USA Midwest

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright decreased by 0.49% from the previous week. Additionally, the price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing dropped by 0.50%, closing the week at $3.95 per pound as opposed to $3.97 at the beginning. The price of copper scrap in the #2 Copper Wire and Tubing category decreased from $3.87 to $3.85 per pound throughout the week.

USA West Coast

According to the ScrapMonster Index, the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright decreased by 0.47% over the course of the week, from $4.24 to $4.22 per pound. This week, the price per pound of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing dropped from $4.14 to $4.12. #2 Copper Wire and Tubing has dropped 0.50% from its initial price of $4.04 to $4.02 per pound by the end of the week.

China

#1 Copper Bare Bright was priced at CNY 75,550 per MT the week before, which was a little increase from CNY 75,400 per MT. There was also a slight increase of 0.21% in #1 Copper Wire and Tubing compared to the previous week. Furthermore, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing increased by 0.21% to CNY 70,850 per MT on the Index.

Europe

From the previous week, #1 Copper Bare Bright's weekly price remained at $6,000 per tonne. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing on the Index was unchanged from the previous week at $5,200 per tonne. Furthermore, during the week ending October 31, 2024, there was no change in the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing on the Index.

Brass Scrap Prices

Brass Scrap prices witnessed no change over the previous week.

North America

The price of Red Brass was $2.41 a pound, the same as it was the week before. Yellow Brass was also flat on the Index. The price of the commodity stayed at $2.26 per pound.

When compared to the previous week, Red Brass's prices showed no change. Additionally, Yellow Brass prices were unchanged from the previous week at $2.26 a pound.

USA Midwest

Red Brass witnessed no change in prices over the previous week, with prices holding steady at $2.39 per pound. On the Index, Yellow Brass was also unaltered. At $2.24 a pound, the commodity's price stayed constant.

USA West Coast

At $2.45 per pound, Red Brass's price remained unchanged from the week before. Additionally, the price of Yellow Brass, which is $2.31 a pound, did not change during the previous week.

China

Over the course of the week, neither the price of Red Brass nor Yellow Brass changed. Red brass remained stable at CNY 38,000 per MT. Additionally, Yellow Brass prices showed no change from the week before. At CNY 35,350 per MT, the prices were fixed.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

The Index's aluminum scrap prices dropped 1.12% over the previous week.

North America

The price of E.C. Aluminum Wire decreased by 0.84% during the previous week. The price of 6063 Extrusions decreased by 1.10% from the previous week's price during the week ending October 31, 2024. Old Cast prices fell 1.28% on the Index. In addition, UBC's prices decreased by 1.27% over the week prior.

The price of E.C. Aluminum Wire decreased by 0.84% during the previous week. The price of 6063 Extrusions decreased by 1.10% from the previous week's price during the week ending October 31, 2024. Old Cast prices fell 1.28% on the Index. In addition, UBC's prices decreased by 1.27% over the week prior.

USA Midwest

E.C. Aluminum Wire is now 0.84% less expensive than it was a week ago. The commodity's price closed at $1.18 per pound last week, down $0.01 per pound. Meanwhile, the price of 6063 Extrusions dropped by 1.12% per week. The nominal price declines for UBC and Old Cast were 1.28% and 1.32%, respectively, based on the ScrapMonster Index.

USA West Coast

The price of E.C. aluminum wire was down 0.84% from the week before, indicating a downward trend. In comparison to the previous week's price of $0.91 per pound, the ScrapMonster Index indicated a slight drop in the price of 6063 Extrusions to $0.01 per pound. The Index's Old Cast prices changed by -1.27% during the week. Similarly, UBC's prices have dropped by 1.25% as of October 31, 2024.

China

At CNY 19,550 per MT, E.C. Aluminum Wire prices were stable on the index. Furthermore, 6063 Extrusions' price remained constant at CNY 18,450 per MT from the previous week. As of October 31, 2024, Old Cast's price remained unchanged on the Index. With a weekly closing price of CNY 12,550 per MT, UBC prices increased by 0.4%.

Europe

The price of Old Cast stayed around $1,050 per tonne for the whole of the week. Furthermore, UBC prices did not change from the previous week, remaining stable at $1,250 per tonne on the ScrapMonster Index.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices 

The prices of Stainless Steel scrap showed a weekly decline of 1.54%.

North America

An analysis of 304 SS Strong price trends suggest that the commodity's price has somewhat decreased from the previous week. Over the course of the week, the price per pound of the commodity dropped by $0.01.

On October 31, 2024, 304 SS Solid prices showed a slight decrease of 1.54% over the previous week. Over the course of the week, the prices decreased from $0.65 to $0.64 a pound.

USA Midwest

304 SS Solid prices were down modestly by 1.54%, to end the week at $0.64 per Lb.

USA West Coast

The price of 304 SS Solid decreased by 1.54% from $0.65 per pound the week before to $0.64 per pound for the week ending October 31, 2024.

China

Over the course of the week, 304 SS Solid prices somewhat dropped. The reported price of the commodity fell by 0.82% last week, from CNY 12,150 per MT to CNY 12,050 per MT.

Europe

Over the week, there was no change in the price of 304 SS Solid from the previous week's price of $1,070 per ton.

Steel Scrap Prices

Steel Scrap prices reported no change when compared with the previous week.

North America

Over the previous week, there was no movement in #1 HMS prices. At $315 per MT, the commodity's price remained constant. Additionally, rates for shredded auto scrap remained unchanged from $380 per MT during the week. In a similar vein, HMS 80/20 pricing were steady at $260 per MT from the previous week. Additionally, the price of #1 Busheling remained constant throughout the week.

According to the ScrapMonster Index, #1 HMS's prices remained constant at $315 per MT during the week. Shredded Auto Scrap's prices for the week showed no change from $380 per MT the previous week. During the week, the price of HMS 80/20 was also fixed at $260 per MT. #1 Busheling prices on the Index were also unchanged.

USA Midwest

The prices of #1 HMS witnessed no change over the prior week. Shredded Auto Scrap also were flat during the week. At $260 per MT, the HMS 80/20 prices were unchanged on the Index. The prices of #1 Busheling posted no variation during the week ending October 31, 2024.

USA West Coast

#1 HMS prices recorded no change over the prior week. The prices of the commodity held steady at $315 per MT. Shredded Auto Scrap too was stagnant, with prices reporting no change from $380 per MT during the week. HMS 80/20 prices held on to their previous week’s prices of $260 per MT. Also, #1 Busheling prices were unchanged over the week at $390 per MT.

China

Over the previous week, there was no movement in #1 HMS prices. At CNY 1,630 per MT, the commodity's price remained stable.

Europe

The prices of #1 HMS recorded no variation in prices during the week, with prices holding steady at $170 per MT on the ScrapMonster Index. Shredded Auto Scrap witnessed no change from the prior week’s level of $130 per MT over the week.

Lead Scrap Prices

Prices for lead scrap were stable as compared to the previous week.

North America

A review of the Scrap Auto Batteries price charts showed that the commodity's prices from the previous week had not changed. Throughout the week, the price per pound remained constant at $0.22.

USA Midwest

Throughout the week, the price of scrap auto batteries remained unchanged at $0.22 per pound on the ScrapMonster Index.

USA West Coast

The price of scrap auto batteries remained at $0.22 per pound, unchanged from the beginning of the week.

China

Over the past week, Scrap Auto Battery prices recorded no variation on the Index. As of Thursday, October 31, 2024, the prices of the commodity stood unchanged at CNY 6,850 per MT.

Europe

Throughout the week, there was no change in the price of scrap auto batteries from the previous week's price of $820 per ton.

Zinc Scrap Prices

Zinc Scrap prices recorded no change week-on-week.

North America

The price of New Zinc Die Cast remained constant at $0.80 per pound throughout the previous week. Over the course of the week, Old Zinc Die Cast prices remained constant as well. On Thursday, October 31, 2024, the commodity's closing price was $0.68 a pound.

New Zinc Die Cast's price was the same as it was the week before. The price per tonne remained at $800.
