SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The following report provides the weekly global market price trends for the various scrap metal categories on the Scrap Monster Price Index for the week of January 24–30, 2025:
Over the previous week, there was a marginal increase of 0.25% in the price of copper scrap.
North America
The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright edged higher by 0.24% in the last week. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing was up 0.25% from the start of the week, closing the week at $4.06 a pound. Likewise, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing increased by $0.01 per pound, from $3.95 to $3.96.

As of Thursday, January 30, 2025, the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the ScrapMonster Index went higher by 0.24% through the week, from $4.15 to $4.16 per pound. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing went up from $4.05 to $4.06 per pound during the previous week. By the conclusion of the week, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing had recorded marginal increase by 0.25% to $3.96 per pound.
USA Midwest
The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright has inched higher by 0.25% in the last week. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing saw a slight 0.25% increase at the end of the week, going from $3.95 to $3.96 per pound. The price of copper scrap in the #2 Copper Wire and Tubing category edged higher by 0.26%. The price per pound increased from $3.85 to $3.86 during the week.
USA West Coast
According to the ScrapMonster Index, the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright increased by 0.23% during the week, from $4.27 to $4.28 per pound. This week, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing's price edged higher slightly from $4.17 to $4.18 a pound. By the end of the week, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing had increased 0.25%, from $4.07 to $4.08 per pound.
China
The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the Index experienced a slight decrease during the previous week, which ended on January 30, 2025. The weekly closing price of the commodity was CNY 74,400 per MT, which was lower than the previous week's price of CNY 74,700 per MT. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing's price declined by 0.42% from the week before. Furthermore, the price of the Index's #2 Copper Wire and Tubing was down by 0.43% at the conclusion of the week, falling from CNY 70,000 per MT to CNY 69,700 per MT.
Europe
From the previous week, the weekly price of #1 Copper Bare Bright remained at $6,000 per tonne. On the Index, #1 copper wire and tubing was unchanged from the previous week at $5,200 per tonne. Additionally, during the week ending January 30, 2025, there was no change in the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing on the Index.
The prices for brass scrap edged lower by 0.84% from the previous week.
North America
Red Brass went down from $2.46 to $2.44 per pound by the conclusion of the week. Yellow Brass also dropped on the Index. The price of the commodity declined from $2.31 to $2.29 per pound, a 0.87% decrease.

Red Brass was down 0.8% from the previous week at $2.48 a pound as of Thursday, January 30, 2025. In addition, Yellow Brass's price per pound declined just 0.87% over the previous week.
China
Red Brass and Yellow Brass prices declined slightly during the week ending January 30, 2025. The Index shows that Red Brass' price dropped by CNY 50 per MT during the week, ending at CNY 38,050, while Yellow Brass' price declined by 0.14% during the week, from CNY 35,250 per MT to CNY 35,200 per MT.
The Index's aluminum scrap prices recorded no variation over the previous week.
North America
E.C. Aluminum Wire's pricing remained unchanged from $1.17 per pound the week before. The price of 6063 Extrusions during the week ending January 30, 2025, was $0.91 per pound, the same as the week before. On the Index, the price of Old Cast remained stable at $0.77 a pound. Furthermore, UBC's prices were unchanged from the previous week.

Since a week ago, the price of E.C. Aluminum Wire has not changed. The commodity's price remained stable at $1.17 per pound last week. Meanwhile, the price of 6063 Extrusions remained constant from week to week. The ScrapMonster Index indicates that neither UBC nor Old Cast's prices changed from the previous week.
USA West Coast
Over the preceding week, the price of E.C. Aluminum Wire held steady at $$1.17 per pound. According to the ScrapMonster Index, the price of 6063 Extrusions were flat at $0.91 per pound. Over the course of the week, the prices of Old Cast in the Index witnessed no variation. As of January 30, 2025, UBC's prices also held steady at $0.79 per Lb.
China
E.C. Aluminum Wire prices were down on the Index, falling from CNY 19,200 per MT to CNY 19,150 per MT. Additionally, the price of 6063 Extrusions closed at CNY 18,050 per MT, recording a decline of 0.28% from the previous week. The price of Old Cast witnessed a marginal decline of CNY 50 per MT on the Index as of January 30, 2025. UBC prices recorded no change week-on-week, remaining unchanged at CNY 12,400 per MT at the end of the week.
Europe
The price of Old Cast held constant at $1,050 per tonne for the entire week. Furthermore, UBC prices remained at $1,250 per tonne, the same as the previous week, according to the ScrapMonster Index.
The prices of Stainless Steel scrap recorded a decline of 1.56% over the previous week’s prices.
North America
An analysis of 304 SS Solid pricing trend indicates that the commodity's price decreased weekly. The commodity's price decreased from $0.64 per pound to $0.63 per pound during the course of the week.

There was no change in the price of #1 HMS during the course of the week; the ScrapMonster Index showed prices being constant at $170 per MT. Over the course of the week, Shredded Auto Scrap remained unchanged at $130 per MT from the previous week.
Prices for lead scrap were stable as compared to the previous week.
North America
The Scrap Auto Batteries pricing charts showed that the commodity's prices had not moved from the week before. The price per pound stayed steady at $0.22 for the entire week.
