Weekly Scrap Metal Price Update- December 6, 2024

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The weekly global market price trends for the various scrap metal categories on the Scrap Monster Price Index from November 29 to December 5, 2024, are shown in the following report:

Copper Scrap Prices

Over the previous week, there was a slight increase of 1.30% in the price of copper scrap.

North America

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright rose 1.27% during the previous week. The closing price of #1 Copper Wire & Tubing was $3.90 per pound, up 1.30% from the start of the week. Likewise, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing increased by $0.05, from $3.75 to $3.80 per pound.

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the ScrapMonster Index edged higher from $3.95 to $4.00 per pound on Thursday, December 5, 2024, a 1.27% weekly rise. Over the course of the week, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing's price went up from $3.85 to $3.90 per pound. The price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing has gone up by 1.33% to $3.80 per pound by the conclusion of the week.

USA Midwest

Over the preceding week, #1 Copper Bare Bright's price rose by 1.30%. At the end of the week, the price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing went up by 1.33%, from $3.75 to $3.80 per pound. Over the course of the week, the price of copper scrap in the #2 Copper Wire and Tubing category increased little from $3.65 to $3.70 per pound.

USA West Coast

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright increased 1.24% during the week, from $4.02 to $4.07 per pound, according to the ScrapMonster Index. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing increased from $3.92 to $3.97 per pound this week. The price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing went up from $3.82 to $3.87 per pound at the conclusion of the week, a 1.31% rise.

China

The price of the #1 Copper Bare Bright saw a slight increase on the Index during the previous week, which ended on December 5, 2024. The price of the commodity closed the week at CNY 73,350 per MT, which was higher than the previous week's price of CNY 72,900 per MT. Brass Scrap Prices

The prices for brass scrap increased by 0.87% from the previous week.

North America

By the conclusion of the week, a pound of Red Brass was now $2.39 instead of $2.37. On the Index, Yellow Brass was likewise higher. The commodity's price went up by 0.90%, from $2.22 to $2.24 per pound.

The Index indicates that Red Brass's price increased by CNY 150 per MT over the course of the week, closing at CNY 37,950. Furthermore, throughout the course of the week, the price of Yellow Brass increased by 0.43%, from CNY 34,950 per MT to CNY 35,100 per MT.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

The Index's aluminum scrap prices recorded marginal increase by 1.17% over the previous week.

North America

Over the preceding week, E.C. Aluminum Wire's price increased by 0.86%. The price of 6063 Extrusions increased from $0.88 per pound the week before to $0.89 per pound during the week ending December 5, 2024. From $0.74 per pound the previous week to $0.75 per pound, the price of Old Cast on the Index increased marginally. In addition, UBC's prices increased by 1.33% over the previous week.

The price of E.C. Aluminum Wire increased by 0.86% during the previous week. During the week ending December 5, 2024, the price of 6063 Extrusions were up by 1.14% from the previous week. The Index showed marginal increase in Old Cast prices week-on-week. Also, UBC's prices inched higher from $0.75 per Lb to $0.76 per Lb during the previous week.

USA Midwest

The price of E.C. Aluminum Wire has gone up by 0.86% since a week ago. Last week, the price of the commodity closed at $1.17 per pound, up week-over-week by $0.01 per pound. In the meantime, 6063 Extrusions' price witnessed week-on-week jump by 1.16%. According to the ScrapMonster Index, the prices of UBC and Old Cast recorded increase by 1.35% and 1.39% respectively over the previous week’s prices.

USA West Coast

The price of E.C. Aluminum Wire increased by 0.86% over the previous week. The price of 6063 extrusions went up from $0.88 per pound the previous week to $0.89 per pound, according to the ScrapMonster Index. The prices of Old Cast in the Index increased by 1.33% throughout the week. Additionally, UBC's pricing increased by 1.32% as of December 5, 2024.

China

At CNY 19,300 per MT, E.C. Aluminum Wire prices were up marginally by 0.26% on the Index. Furthermore, 6063 Extrusions' price recorded marginal increase by 0.28% from the previous week to close at CNY 18,200 per MT. As of December 5, 2024, Old Cast's price recorded a slight increase of 0.28% on the Index. With a weekly closing price of CNY 12,400 per MT, UBC prices witnessed a jump of 0.4% over the previous week’s price.

Europe

For the whole week, the price of Old Cast remained at $1,050 a tonne. Additionally, according to the ScrapMonster Index, UBC prices were unchanged from the previous week at $1,250 a tonne.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices 

The prices of Stainless Steel scrap showed no variation over the previous week’s prices.

North America

A review of 304 SS Solid pricing pattern suggest that the commodity's price has held steady from the previous week. The prices were flat at $0.66 per Lb during the course of the week.

Steel Scrap Prices

Steel Scrap prices reported no change when compared with the previous week.

North America

The price of the #1 HMS has not changed in the past week. The price of the commodity stayed at $315 per MT. Furthermore, throughout the week, prices for shredded car scrap stayed constant at $380 per MT. HMS 80/20 pricing remained unchanged from the previous week at $260 per MT. Furthermore, the pricing of #1 Busheling did not alter during the week.

USA Midwest

Over the previous week, #1 HMS's prices remained unchanged. During the week, Shredded Auto Scrap was similarly flat. The HMS 80/20 pricing on the Index remained constant at $260 per MT. The week ending December 5, 2024, saw no change in the price of #1 Busheling.

USA West Coast

The #1 HMS pricing did not change during the past week. The price of the commodity stayed steady at $315 per MT. At $380 per MT over the week, prices for shredded auto scrap also didn't change. As the previous week, HMS 80/20 prices stayed steady at $260 per MT. Furthermore, during the week, the price of #1 Busheling were unmoved at $390 per MT.

China

Over the previous week, there was no variation in #1 HMS prices. At CNY 1,630 per MT, the commodity's price remained stable.

Europe

The prices of #1 HMS recorded no variation in prices during the week, with prices holding steady at $170 per MT on the ScrapMonster Index. Shredded Auto Scrap witnessed no change from the prior week’s level of $130 per MT over the week.

Lead Scrap Prices

Prices for lead scrap were stable as compared to the previous week.

North America

The prices of the commodity had not changed from the previous week, according to the pricing charts for Scrap Auto Batteries. Throughout the week, the price per pound remained constant at $0.22.

Zinc Scrap recorded no variation in prices week-on-week.

The price of New Zinc Die Cast remained constant at $0.78 per pound throughout the past week. Additionally, Old Zinc Die Cast prices remained constant from week to week. As of Thursday, December 5, 2024, the closing price of the commodity was $0.66 a pound.
