SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The weekly price trends of various scrap metal categories across worldwide markets for the past week (16th to 22nd August, 2024) on the Scrap Monster Price Index are provided below:
Copper Scrap recorded marginal weekly decline in prices by 0.26%
#1 Copper Bare Bright witnessed nominal dip in prices over the prior week, falling by 0.25%. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing too were down marginally by 0.26%, from the levels of $3.89 per Lb at the start of the week to end the week at $3.88 per Lb. Similarly, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing prices declined by 0.26%, decreasing from $3.79 per Lb to $3.78 per Lb.

The prices of #1 Copper Bare Bright recorded weekly decline in prices by 0.25%, dipping from $3.99 per Lb to $3.98 per Lb on the ScrapMonster Index. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, saw their prices decrease from levels of $3.89 per Lb to $3.88 per Lb over the week. The prices of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing too were down by 0.26% to end the week at $3.78 per Lb.
The prices of #1 Copper Bare Bright witnessed slight decline by 0.50% over the prior week. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing too were down by 0.52%, from the price of $3.87 per Lb at the start of the week to end the week at $3.85 per Lb. Another copper scrap category to witness week-on-week dip in prices was #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, the prices of which fell from $3.77 per Lb to $3.75 per Lb over the week.
The prices of #1 Copper Bare Bright recorded weekly decline by 0.49%, reporting dip from $4.07 per Lb to $4.05 per Lb on the ScrapMonster Index. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, saw their prices drop from levels of $3.97 per Lb to $3.95 over the week. The prices of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing too were down marginally by 0.52% to end the week at $3.85 per Lb, upon comparison with the opening price of $3.87 per Lb.
The prices of #1 Copper Bare Bright recorded no change, upon comparison with the previous week’s price of CNY 72,900 per MT. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing too were unchanged over the previous week. #2 Copper Wire and Tubing prices remained flat at CNY 67,900 per MT on the Index.
The prices of #1 Copper Bare Bright witnessed no change from the prior week’s price of $6,000 per Tonne during the week. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing prices too were flat on Index, maintaining the previous week’s price of $5,200 per Tonne. Also, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing prices held steady on Index.
Brass Scrap prices witnessed slight increase by 0.95% over the previous week.
Red Brass prices witnessed increase over the previous week, rising from $2.20 per Lb to $2.22 per Lb. Yellow Brass too recorded nominal increase in prices by 0.98%. The prices of the commodity recorded increase from $2.05 per Lb to $2.07 per Lb.

The prices of Red Brass edged higher by 0.91%, from the previous week price of $2.20 per Lb to $2.22 per Lb as of Thursday, 22nd August, 2024. Also, Yellow Brass prices recorded increase by 0.98% over the previous week.
Red Brass prices recorded marginal increase week-on-week, rising from $2.22 per Lb to end the week at $2.24 per Lb. Similarly, Yellow Brass prices went higher by 0.97% during the week.
The prices of Red Brass recorded nominal increase by 0.89% over the previous week. Yellow Brass too followed suit, rising by 0.95%, from $2.10 per Lb at the start of the week to close the week at $2.12 per Lb.
Both Red Brass and Yellow Brass prices witnessed marginal increase over the week. The prices of Red Brass increased from CNY 37,950 per MT to CNY 38,000 per MT. Also, Yellow Brass saw its prices rise by 0.14% from CNY 35,300 per MT to CNY 35,350 per MT.
Aluminum Scrap prices posted notable increase by 4.40% during the prior week.
E.C. Aluminum Wire prices recorded significant increase over the previous week, rising by 5.77%. 6063 Extrusions prices inched higher, increasing from $0.84 per Lb to $0.87 per Lb. Old Cast prices too were up by 4.23% when compared with the prior week. UBC prices recorded weekly jump by 4.17% on Index over the prior week.

E.C. Aluminum Wire prices witnessed weekly increase in prices by 5.77%, rising from $1.04 per Lb to $1.10 per Lb. 6063 Extrusions, saw their prices rise from levels of $0.84 per Lb to $0.87 per Lb over the week. The prices of Old Cast too were up by 4.23% on the Index. UBC prices too reported increase by 4.17% on the ScrapMonster Index during the week.
The prices of E.C. Aluminum Wire witnessed jump by 5.77% over the prior week. The prices of the commodity increased from $1.04 per Lb to $1.10 per Lb during the past one-week period. Meantime, 6063 Extrusions, Old Cast and UBC prices too recorded increase during the week. The prices of 6063 Extrusions and Old Cast witnessed increase by 3.66% and 4.35% respectively, whereas UBC prices edged higher by 4.23% on Index.
E.C. Aluminum Wire prices recorded modest increase over the previous week, rising by 5.77%. 6063 Extrusions prices were up by 3.57% on the ScrapMonster Index, from the previous week’s price of $0.84 per Lb. Old Cast prices edged higher by 4.17% on Index. UBC prices too witnessed notable increase by 4.11% over the prior week.
E.C. Aluminum Wire prices edged higher modestly by 2.47% to end the week at $18,650 per MT. 6063 Extrusions witnessed increase by 2.63% in prices when compared with the previous week. The prices of Old Cast too were up by 2.66% on the Index. In the meantime, UBC prices witnessed marginal jump, in comparison with the previous week price of CNY 12,150 per MT.
The prices of Old Cast held steady at $1,050 per Tonne during the week. UBC prices too were flat on Index, maintaining the previous week’s price of $1,250 per Tonne on the ScrapMonster Index.
The prices of Stainless Steel scrap reported slight increase by 1.64% week-on-week.
A study on the price patterns of 304 SS Solid suggests that the prices of the commodity recorded slight increase over the prior week. The prices edged higher from $0.61 per Lb to $0.62 per Lb during the week.
