Weekly Scrap Metal Price Report- February 7, 2025

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright edged higher by 4.37% in the last week.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The following report provides the weekly global market price trends for the various scrap metal categories on the Scrap Monster Price Index for the week of January 31– February 6, 2025:

Copper Scrap Prices

Over the previous week, there was a modest increase of 4.48% in the price of copper scrap.

North America

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright edged higher by 4.37% in the last week. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing was up 4.48% from the start of the week, closing the week at $4.20 a pound. Likewise, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing increased by $0.18 per pound, from $3.92 to $4.10.

USA East Coast

As of Thursday, February 6, 2025, the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the ScrapMonster Index went higher by 4.37% through the week, from $4.12 to $4.30 per pound. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing went up from $4.02 to $4.20 per pound during the previous week. By the conclusion of the week, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing had recorded modest increase by 4.59% to $4.10 per pound.

USA Midwest

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright has inched higher by 4.48% in the last week. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing saw a marginal 4.59% increase at the end of the week, going from $3.92 to $4.10 per pound. The price of copper scrap in the #2 Copper Wire and Tubing category edged higher by 4.71%. The price per pound increased from $3.82 to $4.00 during the week.

USA West Coast

According to the ScrapMonster Index, the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright increased by 2.12% during the week, from $4.24 to $4.33 per pound. This week, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing's price edged higher slightly from $4.14 to $4.23 a pound. By the end of the week, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing had increased 2.23%, from $4.04 to $4.13 per pound.

China

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the Index experienced a slight increase during the previous week, which ended on February 6, 2025. The weekly closing price of the commodity was CNY 75,300 per MT, which was higher than the previous week's price of CNY 74,400 per MT. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing's price edged higher by 1.27% from the week before. Furthermore, the price of the Index's #2 Copper Wire and Tubing was up by 1.29% at the conclusion of the week, rising from CNY 69,700 per MT to CNY 70,600 per MT.

Europe

From the previous week, the weekly price of #1 Copper Bare Bright remained at $6,000 per tonne.  On the Index, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing was unchanged from the previous week at $5,200 per tonne. Additionally, during the week ending February 6, 2025, there was no change in the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing on the Index.

 

Brass Scrap Prices

The prices for brass scrap edged higher by 2.54% from the previous week.

 

North America

Red Brass went up from $2.44 to $2.50 per pound by the conclusion of the week. Yellow Brass also increased on the Index. The price of the commodity edged higher from $2.29 to $2.35 per pound, a 2.62% increase.

Over the previous week, Red Brass's price increased by 2.46%. Toward the end of the week, Yellow Brass's price per pound also went higher from $2.29 to $2.35.

USA Midwest

Red brass prices went higher from $2.42 to $2.48 per pound, a 2.48% increase from the week before. Additionally, Yellow Brass prices jumped on the Index. The commodity's price edged higher by 2.68%.

USA West Coast

Red Brass was up 2.42% from the previous week at $2.54 a pound as of Thursday, February 6, 2025. In addition, Yellow Brass's price per pound increased 2.63% over the previous week.

China

Red Brass and Yellow Brass prices jumped higher slightly during the week ending February 6, 2025. The Index shows that Red Brass' price increased by CNY 200 per MT during the week, ending at CNY 38,250, while Yellow Brass' price edged higher by 0.57% during the week, from CNY 35,200 per MT to CNY 35,400 per MT.

 

Aluminum Scrap Prices

The Index's aluminum scrap prices recorded increase over the previous week.

North America

E.C. Aluminum Wire's pricing increased by 1.72% from $1.16 per pound the week before to $1.18 per pound. The price of 6063 Extrusions during the week ending February 6, 2025, was up by 1.10% from the week before. On the Index, the price of Old Cast recorded a marginal increase of 1.30%. Furthermore, UBC's prices were up by 1.28% week-on-week.

Over the past week, E.C. Aluminum Wire's price witnessed an increase of 1.72% on the Index. In comparison to the previous week, the price of 6063 Extrusions edged higher by 1.10% during the week ending February 6, 2025. The Index indicated a slight increase of 1.30% in Old Cast pricing. Also, during the previous week, UBC's prices inched higher by 1.28% to close at $0.79 per pound.

USA Midwest

Since a week ago, the price of E.C. Aluminum Wire has increased by 1.72%. The commodity's price ended the week at $1.18 per pound last week. Meanwhile, the price of 6063 Extrusions recorded a weekly jump of 1.12%. The ScrapMonster Index indicates that both UBC and Old Cast's prices recorded positive movement from the previous week.

USA West Coast

Over the preceding week, the price of E.C. Aluminum Wire increased by 1.72% to $$1.18 per pound. According to the ScrapMonster Index, the price of 6063 Extrusions were up by 1.10%. Over the course of the week, the prices of Old Cast in the Index witnessed a jump of 1.28%. As of February 6, 2025, UBC's prices also edged higher by 1.27% to close the week at $0.80 per Lb.

China

E.C. Aluminum Wire prices were up on the Index, rising from CNY 19,150 per MT to CNY 19,200 per MT. Additionally, the price of 6063 Extrusions closed at CNY 18,100 per MT, recording a jump of 0.28% from the previous week. The price of Old Cast witnessed a marginal increase of CNY 50 per MT on the Index as of February 6, 2025. UBC prices recorded a marginal increase week-on-week, closing at CNY 12,400 per MT at the end of the week.

Europe

The price of Old Cast held constant at $1,050 per tonne for the entire week. Furthermore, UBC prices remained at $1,250 per tonne, the same as the previous week, according to the ScrapMonster Index.

 

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices 

The prices of Stainless Steel scrap recorded no variation over the previous week’s prices.

North America

An analysis of 304 SS Solid pricing trend indicates that the commodity's price held steady over the prior week. The commodity's price remained at $0.62 per pound during the course of the week.

The price of 304 SS Solid were unchanged during the previous week, which concluded on February 6, 2025. The price of the commodity stood at $0.62 per pound.

USA Midwest

304 SS Solid prices recorded no change during the previous week.

USA West Coast

For the week ending February 6, 2025, the price of 304 SS Solid recorded no variation.

China

Over the course of the week, the price of 304 SS Solid witnessed a minor jump. The reported price of the product increased by CNY 100 per MT to close at CNY 12,050 per MT during the week ended February 6, 2025.

Europe

From the price of $1,070 per ton the week before, the price of 304 SS Solid remained constant.

 

Steel Scrap Prices

Steel Scrap prices reported no change when compared with the previous week.

North America

Over the previous week, the #1 HMS's price has remained unchanged. The commodity's price remained steady at $330 per MT. In addition, the cost of Shredded Auto Scrap remained steady at $385 per MT over the week. The price of HMS 80/20 was $275 per MT, the same as the week before. In addition, #1 Busheling's price remained constant throughout the week.

The ScrapMonster Index indicates that #1 HMS's prices stayed steady during the week at $330 per MT. The weekly pricing for Shredded Auto Scrap remained unchanged from $385 per MT the week before. The price of HMS 80/20 was set at $275 per MT for the duration of the week. The Index's #1 Busheling prices remained constant as well.

USA Midwest

#1 HMS's prices didn't change during the past week. Shredded Auto Scrap was likewise flat during the week. At $275 per MT, the Index's HMS 80/20 pricing stayed the same. The price of #1 Busheling remained unchanged during the week ending February 6, 2025.

USA West Coast

The #1 HMS pricing did not change during the past week. The price of the commodity stayed steady at $330 per MT. At $385 per MT over the week, prices for Shredded Auto Scrap also didn't change. As the previous week, HMS 80/20 prices stayed steady at $275 per MT. Furthermore, during the week, the price of #1 Busheling were unmoved at $410 per MT.

China

Over the previous week, there was no variation in #1 HMS prices. At CNY 1,630 per MT, the commodity's price remained stable.

Europe

There was no change in the price of #1 HMS during the course of the week; the ScrapMonster Index showed prices being constant at $170 per MT. Over the course of the week, Shredded Auto Scrap remained unchanged at $130 per MT from the previous week.

 

Lead Scrap Prices

Prices for lead scrap were stable as compared to the previous week.

North America

The Scrap Auto Batteries pricing charts showed that the commodity's prices had not moved from the week before. The price per pound stayed steady at $0.22 for the entire week.

The prices of Scrap Auto Batteries on the index reported no variation in the last week. The price of the commodity were unchanged at CNY 6,950 per MT during the week ended Thursday, February 6, 2025.

Europe

The price per ton of Scrap Auto Batteries remained at $820 throughout the week, unchanged from the previous week.

 

Zinc Scrap Prices

Zinc Scrap prices recorded a modest increase of 1.51% in prices week-on-week.

North America

The price of New Zinc Die Cast increased by 1.37% over the previous week, from $0.73 to $0.74 per pound. Week-on-week, Old Zinc Die Cast prices likewise edged higher. As of Thursday, February 6, 2025, the closing price of the commodity was $0.62 a pound.

The prices of New Zinc Die Cast registered an increase of 1.37% from the previous week’s price of $0.73 per Lb. Also, Old Zinc Die Cast prices inched higher by 1.64% over the previous week.

USA Midwest

Over the preceding week, the price of New Zinc Die Cast jumped by 1.37 percent. By the conclusion of the week, the price of Old Zinc Die Cast had increased by 1.64% to $0.62 per pound.

USA West Coast

New Zinc Die Cast is now expensive than it was the week before, at $0.73 per pound. The weekly closing price of the commodity was $0.74 per pound. Additionally, the Index showed a 1.64% increase in the price of Old Zinc Die Cast.

Europe

New Zinc Die Cast's price was the same as it was the week before. The price per tonne remained at $800.
