SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Food and Beverage Recycling Alliance (FBRA) announced that it has joined hands with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) to create awareness for plastics manufacturers and recyclers in Lagos State of Nigeria.
A seminar held recently focused on promoting sustainable plastic value chains through circular economy practices. This was the second seminar held in this series. The first session was held in Abuja during March this year. The collaboration seeks to contribute to inclusive and sustainable industrial development through resource efficiency.

FBRA, in partnership with UNIDO, conducted an awareness training campaign for players of plastic value chain. The training highlighted the importance of promoting circular economy principles and practices, while resource efficient production of plastics. The campaign saw participation of stakeholders across the plastic value chain in Lagos and Ogun State.
Agharese Onaghise, Executive Secretary, FBRA noted that humans, especially in urban areas have become more mobile. This has resulted in increased use of plastics on the go, thus causing increased plastic pollution.
A total of 10 organisations will be shortlisted for implementing the project in Lagos and Abuja.
