SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): UFP Distribution, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of UFP Construction LLC, announced acquisition of operating assets of Haleyville, Alabama-based Shelter Products, Inc. for a sum of $6.5 million. The acquired business runs distribution and logistics business mainly from its 87,800 square feet warehouse facility. It must be noted that Shelter Products had reported sales of $11.4 million during 2020.
According to company press release, the proximity of the acquired facility to the UFP manufacturing facility will help in enabling additional operational synergies. Patrick Benton, president of UFP Construction hoped that Shelter Products will help the company meet the demand for factory-built housing, thus offering opportunities to distribute new products in the southern U.S. The transaction demonstrates UFP’s ongoing focus on individual markets and products, he added.
Meantime, Stephen Sampson noted that the company is excited to join the UFP family, with whom it has worked for nearly two decades.
