Based on the report, the UAE’s net aluminium and petrochemicals exports in the year 2012 were at $6.5 billion, which accounts for just 1.8% of their net imports. The UAE’s imports were about $352 billion in 2012.
The United Arab Emirates delivered the products to five African nations which includes South Africa, Ghana, Angola, Nigeria and Mozambique and that is around 61 percent or $3.9 billion of their exports to the continent. South Africa is at the first position by receiving $1.08billion exports and Nigeria occupied the second place with about $1.03 billion.
The report specified that the UAE’s petrochemical exports to non-Arab African nations were at $249 million, which accounts for about 2.6% of its net imports of $9.5 billion. UAE was at the sixteenth position among the world’s largest petrochemical exporters to South Africa, contributes about $44 million. This figure covers only 2 percent of the nation’s demand for petrochemicals.
China won the top position as the South African top exporter with a share of 17%, i.e. about $39 million of the African nation’s net petrochemicals imports. The report also pointed put the UAE was among the top 10 aluminium exporters to non-Arab African nations.
