SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Orlando, Florida-based Tupperware Brands Corp. unveiled new products made from chemically recycled plastics. The company plans to launch more products in the range, with the aim of significantly reducing plastic waste by 2025.
The company had introduced Eco Straw- the first product from its Eco+ portfolio. Another product, Eco To-Go Cups, had seen robust demand.
The use of Eco+ in products replaces single-use products. Since then, the company has been testing bio-based materials in its products and packaging. These products have helped in providing sustainable alternative options to throwaway plastics. Moreover, they are durable and reusable.

The company had committed to setting concrete targets to create a circular economy for plastics by 2025 by joining the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s New Plastic Economy Global Commitment. In addition, it had also partnered with non-profit World Central Kitchen by providing reusable products and logistics support, in order to curb the use of single-use plastics.
Bill Wright, Tupperware Brands executive vice president said that the company plans to invest up to $18 million per annum in R&D activities, focused on designing products with increased reusability. It targets 50% reduction in use of plastic packaging by 2022. It has already achieved zero waste to landfill goal at 11 out of 13 manufacturing locations, he added.
