SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Following the conclusion of the four-week tie-in period, Toronto, Ontario-based Torex Gold Resources Inc. announced the first production of copper concentrate from the Media Luna Project. After nearly three years since the project's feasibility assessment was published, the milestone has been reached.
Jody Kuzenko, President and CEO of Torex, commented on the accomplishment, saying that although the ie-in period was a very complicated task, the company managed to complete it with accuracy and quality. 136 distinct systems were put into service, and 83 tie-ins were finished. Kuzenko noted that the company anticipates starting to truck copper concentrate in the next few days and achieving commercial production in the upcoming weeks.

He also congratulated Torex's shareholders for their steadfast support and all of the workers and contractors that helped make Media Luna a success.
46 of the 60 stopes that are scheduled to be mined in 2025, 35 from 2026, and 7 from 2027 are among the 88 stopes that Torex Gold has drilled off. The paste plant's commissioning in the second quarter of this year will result in even higher throughput levels.
The business is still optimistic that it can provide steady-state mining rates of 7,500 tonnes per day by the middle of 2026, which is far earlier than the feasibility study's projected timeline.
