SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Tolko Industries has ruled out possibilities of closures or curtailments at its sawmills in the wake of coronavirus spread.
Chris Downey, communications advisor for Tolko Industries stated that the company does not have plans for closure or curtailments, at the moment. This is based on the current situation and the company will be forced to reassess the procedures in case of rapid change in situation, he added.
The company has taken full precaution to ensure safety of its workers. Visitors, including truckers need to fill in a self-declaration form, which consists of questions pertaining to their recent activity. The access to company sites will be allowed only if the visitors have not travelled to high-risk areas in the past two-week period. Entry will be denied to anyone who displays flu-like symptoms.
Meantime, Cascades, Inc. announced that all of its facilities will continue operating, as the products manufactured by the company, including packaging products and hygiene products, plays a vital role in the lives of consumers. Incidentally, the company’s activities have been recognized as “essential” or “life-sustaining”. The company continues to monitor the situation daily, said Cascades, Inc. press release.
