SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): In order to increase copper output and provide greater value for its stakeholders, Teck Resources unveiled its strategic expansion plan. Before the present decade ends, the corporation wants to produce about 800,000 tons of copper annually.
"Teck Resources is uniquely positioned to deliver transformative near-term copper growth while simultaneously returning significant cash to shareholders," stated Jonathan Price, the company's CEO, in a news statement. The company is committed to carrying out a methodical plan to increase copper output by promoting its high-yield, low-capital projects.
The company intends to invest between C$4.44 billion and C$5.41 billion over the next four years in line with the strategy. More optimization and debottlenecking will be done in Quebrada Blanca in Chile, where the company owns 60% of the business.
The Highland Valley copper mine in British Columbia will continue to operate until the middle of the 2040s. In H1 of the following year, it intends to make a decision regarding the Zafranal project in Peru. At the San Nicolas project in Mexico, where a feasibility study is currently in progress, a production decision is also expected in the first half of next year.
