SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading steelmaker Tata Steel announced commissioning of its new steel recycling plant at Rohtak, Haryana. The new 0.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) recycling plant- the first such facility in the country, has been set up in collaboration with Aarti Green Tech Ltd.
The steel recycling plant is equipped with most modern equipment and machinery including shredder, baler and material handlers. The company will make use of the FerroHaat app to collect scrap from households, scrapped vehicles, construction and industrial sectors. The high-quality processed scrap from the facility would be then distributed for downstream steelmaking.

The company also announced launch of two new brands of baled and shredded ferrous scrap from the facility- Tata FerroBaled and Tata FerroShred. These processed scrap will play an important role in filling the raw material gap present in the country’s steelmaking industry, thereby reducing the industry’s high reliance on imported scrap.
Yogesh Bedi, Chief of Steel Recyling Business at Tata Steel noted that the plant’s commissioning marks the culmination of the vision of TV Narendran- the company’s CEO and MD. The standardised high quality scrap products will raise the bar of the scrap industry, he said.
