Tata Steel Set to Open Indian Steel Recycling Plant

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): India-based Tata Steel is all set to commission its first steel recycling plant in Rohtak in the north Indian state of Haryana. The state-of-the-art plant will have a capacity to process around 500,000 tons per year. The latest press release by the company states that the first raw material consignment of ferrous scrap was flagged off on 24th July, 2020 for trials.

The new initiative is considered as a big step by the company towards sustainable steel production. The steel recycling route will help steel production by consuming less energy and produces lower carbon emissions. The new facility will enhance availability of quality processed ferrous scrap, thereby lowering the dependency on imports.
