SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): France-based environmental services firm Suez announced the official opening of its state-of-the-art plastics recycling facility in Thailand. The plant, situated in Bang Phli, is considered as the first plastic recycling plant in Asia and one of Thailand’s largest LDPE recycling plants. The recycling plant expands the company’s Asian footprints.
According to company press release, plant will be able to convert nearly 30,000 metric tons of LDPE and LDPE plastic packaging scrap into post-consumer resin plastic. The modern 150,000 square feet facility houses an advanced efficient water treatment system and rooftop solar panels, in addition to most modern machinery and technology.

Steve Clark, CEO of SUEZ Asia said that the company is excited to open its first plastic recycling facility outside of Europe. It will help the Southeast Asian countries to deal with the menace of plastic pollution and transform itself into a circular economy. The company looks forward to work with all stakeholders in the plastic value chain, so as to reach the ultimate goal of plastic free ocean, he added.
Although plastics bring convenience to everyday lives, it also creates adverse environmental impacts, posing danger to humans and marine life.
