SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Steelmaker SSAB announced that it has produced and delivered world’s first fossil-free steel. It is considered as an important milestone in the HYBRIT partnership with LKAB and Vattenfall.
The Swedish steelmaking firm’s Oxelosund plant had rolled out the first steel produced using the fossil-free HYBRIT technology in July this year. The steel reduced by 100% fossil-free hydrogen is now being delivered to Volvo Group. The partnership demonstrates how collaboration between industry leading companies results in reducing carbon emissions and building competitiveness for industries.
