SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): At the 81st Annual North American Paperboard Packaging Competition (PPC), Smurfit Westrock took home up to seven trophies. Among these are the Innovation Award of the Year and the Sustainability Award of the Year. The company's dedication to creating environmentally friendly packaging options and promoting the circular economy is evidenced by the accolades its rigid boxes and folding cartons have received.
The invention that used its patented PETCollar Eco design to convert PepsiCo's eight-pack Gatorade packaging from flexible plastic to recyclable paperboard was the recipient of PPC's Sustainability Award of the Year.
