SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Smurfit Kappa- Europe’s leading manufacturer of paper-based packaging products has announced new acquisition in Latin America.
According to company press release, it has completed the acquisition of Peru-based leading paper-based packaging company Cartones del Pacifico. The milestone acquisition expands the company’s presence in the Americas from 12 to 13 countries and reiterates the Group’s leadership position as the largest regional supplier in the Latin American region. As part of the transaction deal, Smurfit Kappa’s flexible packaging business in El Salvador has been acquired by the Emusa Group.

Tony Smurfit, CEO, Smurfit Kappa Group commented that the acquisition will further expand its strategic reach, underscoring its growing regional capability in Latin America. The expansion of footprint to Peru will drive future growth. Further, he welcomed employees of Cartones del Pacifico to its team and hoped that their expertise will contribute to the company’s continuing success. Meantime, Juan G. Castaneda, CEO The Americas noted that there is a strong cultural fit between the businesses of the two companies.
The acquisition will add 368 employees of Cartones del Pacifico to the Smurfit Kappa family.
