SKGC Partnership to Build New Advanced Plastic Recycling Facility

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): South Korea-based SK Geo Centric (SKGC) has signed an agreement with UK-headquartered advanced plastic recycling technology company, Plastic Energy Ltd., to build a new advanced pyrolysis recycling plant within the Ulsan, South Korea recycling cluster. It must be noted that SKGC had recently announced plans to build a polypropylene recycling plant, the first of its kind in the country, in collaboration with PureCycle Technologies.

As per agreement, SKGC will use Plastic Energy’s technology to build the recycling plant. It will be built on a total area of 13,000 square metres and will have a processing capacity of 66,000 tons per annum. The plant is expected to come online in 2025. The agreement also calls for promoting advanced recycling plants in metropolitan areas within Korea as well as in other Asian countries.

The recycling complex will also house a post-treatment plant with a capacity of 100,000 tons per annum.
