SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Australia-based Sims Limited announced that it has become a signatory to the Action Declaration on Climate Policy Engagement. The declaration was a joint initiative of Corporate Knights and the Global 100 Council and was recently announced at COP27 Conference in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.

Alistair Field, chief executive officer and managing director at Sims Limited noted that signing the agreement and reiterating the commitment to meet the Paris Agreement goals is an important step in its sustainability roadmap. It demonstrates the company’s continued transparency in climate advocacy, he added.
The company assessed the climate policy positions of industry organizations and disclosed the results. Accordingly, during FY22, the company achieved 21% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, when compared with FY20 levels. The company now targets to become carbon neutral by 2030 and use 100% renewable electricity at all of its sites by 2025.
LMS Energy, Sims’ joint venture partner and one of Australia’s leading landfill biogas companies, also signed the agreement.
