September 27, 2024-North American Scrap Metal Prices Displayed Mixed Trend on the Index

TORONTO (Scrap Monster): The North American scrap metal prices witnessed mixed trend on the ScrapMonster Price Index  as of Friday, September 27, 2024. Stainless Steel and Steel scrap prices witnessed no change on the Index. Copper and Brass/Bronze scrap prices were down from the previous day. On the other hand, Aluminum scrap prices registered marginal increase.

Copper Scrap Prices

The price of Alternator scrap remained flat over the previous day. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing dipped by $0.06 per Lb over the day. #2 Copper Wire and Tubing prices were down by $0.06 per Lb. The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright also declined by $0.06 per Lb on the Index.

The prices of #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery dipped marginally by $0.01 per Lb over the day. #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery prices also saw a decline of $0.01 per Lb. #3 Copper-Light copper prices posted decline of $0.06 per Lb from the previous day’s level.

The prices of Copper Radiator scrap experienced a decline of $0.01 per Lb from the previous day’s levels. Copper Transformer Scrap prices remained unchanged. CuYokes and Cu/Al Radiator Ends prices also reported no change from the previous day.

In the meantime, the prices of Cu/Al Radiators and Cu/Al Radiators/Fe held steady as of Friday, September 27, 2024.

Harness Wire 35% Recovery and Heater cores prices were down by $0.01 per Lb each on the Index.

The price of Romex Wire decreased by $0.01 per Lb during the day.     

Scrap Electric Motors, Sealed units, Starters and Xmas Lights prices saw no change from the previous day’s price levels.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

1100 Scrap prices edged higher by $0.01 per Lb over the day. The prices of 3003 Scrap were up by $0.01 per Lb on the Index. The prices of 356 Aluminum Wheels and 6063 Extrusions/Fe also increased by $0.01 per Lb each.

The prices of 6063 Extrusions and 6063 Extrusions/Fe inched higher by $0.01 per Lb each over the day.

In the meantime, prices of 5052 Scrap and 6061 Extrusions edged higher by $0.01 per Lb each when compared with the previous day.

The prices of Al/Cu Radiators and Al/Cu Radiators/Fe were unchanged on the Index. Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Radiators/Fe and Aluminum Transformers prices were flat over the previous day. Breakage 50% Recovery prices increased by $0.01 per Lb as of Friday, September 27, 2024.

Chrome Wheels were up by $0.01 per Lb on the Index.

E.C Aluminum Wire prices edged higher by $0.02 per Lb over the previous day.

Litho Sheets and MLC Clips went higher by $0.01 per Lb each from the previous day’s levels.

Mixed Aluminum Turnings prices also were up by $0.01 per Lb.

The prices of Old Cast, UBC and Zorba 90% NF were up by $0.01 per Lb each over the previous day.

Old Sheet and Painted Siding prices also increased by $0.01 per Lb each, compared to the prior day.

Steel Scrap Prices

#1 Bundle prices remained flat.

The prices of #1 Busheling and #1 HMS too reported no change as of Friday, September 27, 2024.

HMS 80/20 prices held steady.

Sheet Metal, Shredded Auto Scrap and Structural Steel also saw no change in prices when compared with the previous day.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

201 SS prices reported no change.

301 SS and 304 SS Solid prices were flat over the previous day.

304 SS Turning held steady as of September 27, 2024.

309 SS and 316 SS Solid prices were unchanged on a daily basis.

330 SS prices recorded no variation on the Index.

Also, 310 SS prices were flat compared with the previous day.

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

The Brass/Bronze Scrap prices in the North American region declined on the Index.

70/30 Brass Scrap, 80/20 Brass Scrap, 85/15 Brass Scrap and Brass Radiator scrap prices reported marginal decline in prices by $0.01 per Lb as of Friday, September 27, 2024.

Brass Radiator /Fe and Brass Radiator Ends prices maintained the previous day price levels.

Red Brass, Red Borings and Yellow Brass prices were down by $0.01 per Lb each on the Index.
