SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): For the most current week (September 6–September 12, 2024), the weekly global market price trends of the various scrap metal categories on the Scrap Monster Price Index are shown below

Copper Scrap Prices

Prices for copper scrap reported a slight weekly increase of 3.40%.

North America

#1 Copper Bare Bright prices witnessed a marginal increase over the prior week, edging higher by 3.32%. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing saw a marginal jump of 3.40% in price, ending the week at $3.95 per pound after beginning the week at $3.82 per pound. Similarly, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing prices went higher by $0.13 per Lb, rising from $3.72 per Lb to $3.85 per Lb.

The prices of #1 Copper Bare Bright recorded a weekly increase in prices by 3.32%, edging higher from $3.92 per Lb to $4.05 per Lb on the ScrapMonster Index as of Thursday, September 12, 2024. During the week, the price of #1 Copper wire and Tubing increased from $3.82 per pound to $3.95 per pound. The prices of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing too were up by 3.49% to end the week at $3.85 per Lb.

USA Midwest

#1 Copper Bare Bright prices showed a slight increase of 3.40% over the previous week. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing saw a 3.49% increase in price as well, ending the week at $3.85 per pound after beginning the week at $3.72 per pound. Another copper scrap category to witness a week-on-week rise in prices was #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, the prices of which jumped from $3.62 per Lb to $3.75 per Lb over the week.

USA West Coast

The prices of #1 Copper Bare Bright recorded a weekly increase in prices by 3.26%, reporting a jump from $3.99 per Lb to $4.12 per Lb on the ScrapMonster Index. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing witnessed a little increase in price this week, going up from $3.89 per pound to $4.02. The prices of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing too were up by 3.43% to end the week at $3.92 per Lb, upon comparison with the opening price of $3.79 per Lb.

China

When compared to the price of CNY 72,000 per MT the previous week, the prices of #1 Copper Bare Bright showed a slight increase to CNY 72,800 per MT. Over the prior week, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing also recorded a 1.17% increase. Additionally, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing on the Index went higher by 1.19% to CNY 68,100 per MT.

Europe

During the week, #1 Copper Bare Bright prices were unchanged from the previous week's $6,000 per tonne price. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing remained unchanged on the index, staying at $5,200 per tonne as of the previous week.  Also, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing prices held steady on the Index.

Brass Scrap Prices

Brass Scrap prices witnessed marginal increase of 3.18% over the previous week.

North America

Red Brass prices ended the week at $2.35 per pound, increasing from the previous week's price of $2.28 per Lb. Additionally, Yellow Brass was up on the Index. The commodity's price edged higher by 3.29%, from $2.13 per pound to $2.20 per pound.

The prices of Red Brass reported an increase of 3.07% upon comparison with the previous week. Also, Yellow Brass prices edged higher from $2.13 per pound to close the week at $2.20 per pound.

USA Midwest

Red Brass witnessed a marginal jump over the previous week, with prices increasing by 3.10% from $2.26 per Lb to $2.33 per Lb. Yellow Brass too was up on Index. The prices of the commodity recorded an increase of 3.32%.

USA West Coast

Red Brass's price, at $2.39 per pound as of Thursday, September 12, 2024, was up by 3.02% from the previous week. Also, over the previous week, Yellow Brass prices increased by $0.07 per pound.

China

Both Red Brass and Yellow Brass prices witnessed a marginal increase over the week. The price of Red Brass reported a jump from CNY 37,750 per MT to CNY 37,900 per MT. Also, Yellow Brass saw its prices jump marginally higher by 0.43% from CNY 35,100 per MT to CNY 35,250 per MT.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

Aluminum Scrap prices posted a modest increase of 0.24% during the prior week.

North America

E.C. Aluminum Wire prices recorded a marginal increase over the previous week, edging higher by 0.95%. The price of 6063 Extrusions held steady at $0.86, when compared with the previous week’s price. Old Cast prices also were flat on the Index. In addition, UBC prices recorded no variation when compared with the previous week.

Prices for E.C. aluminum wire increased by 0.95% weekly, from $1.05 to $1.06 per pound. Throughout the week, 6063 Extrusions' pricing remained unchanged. On the Index, Old Cast's prices were flat at $0.73 per pound. In the meantime, UBC prices also saw no variation during the week.

USA Midwest

The prices of E.C. Aluminum Wire witnessed an increase of 0.95% over the prior week. The prices of the commodity edged higher from $1.05 per Lb to $1.06 per Lb during the past one-week period. Meantime, 6063 Extrusions maintained previous week’s price. Old Cast and UBC prices also recorded no change over the week on the ScrapMonster Index.

USA West Coast

E.C. Aluminum Wire prices recorded a modest jump over the previous week, increasing by 0.95%. 6063 Extrusions prices were flat on the ScrapMonster Index, at the previous week’s price of $0.86 per Lb. Old Cast recorded no variation in price on the Index. UBC prices also held steady over the prior week.

China

E.C. Aluminum Wire prices edged higher modestly by 1.93% to end the week at $18,500 per MT. 6063 Extrusions witnessed a rise of 2.05% in prices when compared with the previous week. The prices of Old Cast too were up by 2.08% on the Index. In the meantime, UBC prices witnessed a marginal increase of CNY 100 per MT, in comparison with the previous week’s price of CNY 12,100 per MT.

Europe

The prices of Old Cast held steady at $1,050 per Tonne during the week. UBC prices too were flat, maintaining the previous week’s price of $1,250 per Tonne on the ScrapMonster Index.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

The prices of Stainless Steel scrap reported no change week-on-week.

North America

A study on the price patterns of 304 SS Solid suggests that the prices of the commodity recorded no change over the prior week. The prices held steady at $0.61 per Lb during the week.

304 SS Solid prices witnessed marginal increase over the week. The prices of the commodity reported increase from CNY 12,100 per MT to CNY 12,150 per MT, thus recording week-on-week increase by 0.41%.

Europe

The prices of 304 SS Solid witnessed no variation from the prior week’s price of $1,070 per Tonne during the week.

Steel Scrap Prices

Steel Scrap prices reported no change when compared with the previous week.

North America

#1 HMS prices witnessed no change over the prior week. The prices of the commodity stood unchanged at $300 per MT. Shredded Auto Scrap too was flat, with prices reporting no change from $370 per MT during the week. Similarly, HMS 80/20 prices held on to their previous week’s prices of $250 per MT. Also, #1 Busheling prices were unchanged over the week.

During the week, the price of HMS 80/20 was also fixed at $250 per MT. #1 Busheling prices on the Index were also unchanged.

USA Midwest

The prices of #1 HMS witnessed no change over the prior week. Shredded Auto Scrap too were flat during the week. At $250 per MT, the HMS 80/20 prices were unchanged on the Index. The prices of #1 Busheling posted no variation during the week ending September 12, 2024.

USA West Coast

#1 HMS prices recorded no change over the prior week. The prices of the commodity held steady at $300 per MT. Shredded Auto Scrap too was stagnant, with prices reporting no change from $370 per MT during the week. HMS 80/20 prices held on to their previous week’s prices of $250 per MT. Also, #1 Busheling prices were unchanged over the week at $380 per MT.

China

#1 HMS prices witnessed no change over the prior week. The prices of the commodity held steady at CNY 1,630 per MT.

Europe

The prices of #1 HMS recorded no variation in prices during the week, with prices holding steady at $170 per MT on the ScrapMonster Index. Shredded Auto Scrap witnessed no change from the prior week’s level of $130 per MT over the week.

Lead Scrap Prices

Lead Scrap prices held steady upon comparison with the prior week.

North America

The commodity's prices showed no change from the previous week, according to a review of the price charts for scrap auto batteries. During the week, the pricing remained constant at $0.22 per pound.

The prices of Scrap Auto Batteries witnessed no variation from the prior week’s price of $820 per Tonne during the week.

Zinc Scrap Prices

Zinc Scrap prices recorded a modest increase of 4.60% in prices week-on-week.

North America

New Zinc Die Cast prices were up by 4.17% over the previous week, moving higher from $0.72 per Lb to $0.75 per Lb. Old Zinc Die Cast also recorded a week-on-week increase in prices. The prices of the commodity closed at $0.63 per Lb as of Thursday, September 12, 2024.

The prices of New Zinc Die Cast reported no change during the prior week. The prices held steady at $800 per Tonne.
