SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Metallco AS- the leading recycler of non-ferrous metals and steel scrap in Norway has announced launch of latest metal soring technologies at its in-house smelting plant.
The development is further to the company’s decision to utilize latest innovative technologies to keep pace with the times. Furthermore, the company believes that it will help solve the challenges posed by the scrap metal recycling market.
The facility has installed two STEINERT EddyC eddy current separators and several X-ray sorting systems with transmission and fluorescence technology. In addition, it is also installing a STEINERT LSS| LIBS sorting system for separating aluminium based on the type of alloy.
Laurie Feinberg, CEO and majority owner, Metallco AS noted that the company evaluated four different suppliers and was impressed by the STEINERT portfolio, which was competitive in price and superior in quality. The machines are very reliable and don’t need a lot of maintenance and servicing. The STEINERT sorting system ensures high level of purity, he added.
Currently, the facility separates cast from wrought aluminum. With the latest Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) sorting system in operation, it will be capable of separating alloys from series 1 to 8000 as well.
