SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The weekly trend in aluminium scrap prices across worldwide markets for the past one-week period (24th February to 2nd March, 2023) on the Scrap Monster Price Index are provided below:
North America Prices
The prices witnessed notable increase over the prior week. A few commodities held steady during the week.
The prices of Mixed Aluminum Turnings, E.C. Aluminum Wire and 6063 Extrusions/Fe recorded the biggest surge on Index.
The Mixed Aluminum Turnings prices recorded an increase by 2.04% over the previous week. The prices edged higher by $0.49 per Lb to close at $0.50 per Lb on Index.

The prices of E.C. Aluminum Wire and 6063 Extrusions/Fe too witnessed notable surge, with prices inching higher by 1.74% and 1.52% respectively.
Three aluminum scrap commodities that maintained previous week price levels include Breakage 50% Recovery, Aluminum Transformers, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Radiators and Al/Cu Radiators.
USA East Coast Prices
The regional scrap aluminum prices edged higher when compared with the prior week. The top three gainers were Mixed Aluminum Turnings, E.C. Aluminum Wire and 6063 Extrusions/Fe.
The prices of 5052 Scrap and 6063 Extrusions recorded nominal surge, rising by 0.98% and 1.15% respectively.
Meantime, Breakage 50% Recovery, Aluminum Transformers, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Radiators and Al/Cu Radiators prices held steady over the prior week.
USA Midwest Prices
The prices reported modest increase when compared with the week before.
Mixed Aluminum Turnings surged from $0.49 per Lb from the beginning of the week to close at $0.50 per Lb.
The E.C. Aluminum Wire prices witnessed 1.74% weekly surge, recording a rise from $1.15 per Lb to $1.17 per Lb during the week ended 3rd March, 2023. The weekly price chart of the commodity is provided below:
The other scrap categories to record notable surge in prices were 6063 Extrusions/Fe, 6061 Extrusion, Zorba 90% NF and Chrome Wheels.
USA West Coast Prices
The regional prices of all scrap aluminum categories, except Breakage 50% Recovery, Aluminum Transformers, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Radiators and Al/Cu Radiators posted week-on-week surge.
5052 Scrap surged the least, with prices recording week-on-week increase by 0.98%.
The Aluminum Transformer scrap prices held steady over the previous week, as is displayed in the chart below.
China Prices
The aluminum scrap prices in the region surged higher upon comparison with the previous week.
Aluminum Transformers recorded the biggest jump in prices over the week, while Aluminum Ingots surged the least.

India Prices
The Aluminum utensil scrap prices edged higher from INR 199,000 per ton during the start of the week to INR 203,000 per ton on 2nd February, 2023. A similar increase by INR 4,000 per ton was recorded in Aluminum ingots prices over the week.

Europe Prices
The prices of all aluminium scrap categories (Aluminum Cuttings, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast and UBC) witnessed no change during the week.
LME Aluminum Market Update
Meantime, the closing price of LME Aluminum 3-Month contract stood at USD 2,411.00 per tonne as on 2nd March, 2023. The LME Aluminum Cash Settlement contract edged higher nominally from $2,364.00 a day before to $2,366.50 per tonne.
The LME Aluminum stocks decreased over the previous day to close at 546,825 tonnes on 2nd March, 2023, as compared with 550,100 a day before.
