SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): RUSAL- Russia’s leading aluminum producer announced that three of its major production facilities achieved the prestigious Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI) certification. The facilities that earned the certification include a mine, alumina refinery and an aluminum smelter.
According to company press release, RUSAL’s headquarters and three production sites – JSC «Boksit Timana» (bauxite mining), RUSAL Kamensk-Uralskiy (alumina refining) and a branch of PJSC RUSAL Bratsk in Shelekhov (aluminium smelting, casthouse and alloys production) were successfully certified against the ASI Performance Standard and ASI Chain of Custody Standard.
Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI congratulated the company on achieving the dual certification. The certification, in the midst of challenging operating environment, is a significant achievement and clear demonstration of responsible operating practices.

Evgenii Nikitin, RUSAL’s Chief Executive Officer stated that the company is delighted to have achieved the certification from a reputed organization like ASI. The recognition is an important milestone for the company, being the first step in its efforts to achieve the certification for all of its facilities in future. The certification demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to key sustainability principles throughout its operations.
The ASI Performance Standard is the only sustainability supply-chain standard applicable across the entire aluminium value chain. The ASI Chain of Custody Standard recognizes responsible production and sourcing of aluminium by businesses in the value chain.
