SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): A Providence scrapyard ordered closed by a judge last month, after the second fire there this year, is hoping to reopen this week.
Officials held a community meeting Tuesday night addressing questions.
A judge cited air quality and public safety concerns.
The attorney for the scrapyard however, said state testing shows the fire did not have an impact on the soil, river or air quality.
They also said a number of safety improvements have since been made.
RI Recycled Metals is expected to meet with a judge on Wednesday.
The company said it plans to receive approval to reopen on Thursday.
