According to a company news release, the Utah facility, which will be constructed at an investment of approximately $200 million, is located on Nucor's existing Brigham City campus. About 200 full-time employment are anticipated to be created in the area by the state-of-the-art plant.
"Nucor Corporation already has a strong presence in the West, and the location of the new facility in Utah will help it meet the growing demand for utility infrastructure in the region," said Leon Topalian, Chair, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Nucor Corporation. Plate and sheet products from Nucor steel mills will be received as raw materials by the highly automated Utah factory and transported by rail.
In 2022, the Nucor Towers & Structures business unit was created. It anticipates starting production from its new sites in Indiana and Alabama in the first and second half of this year, respectively.
For more over 40 years, Nucor has operated in Brigham City.
