SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Atlanta-headquartered Novelis, Inc.- the world leader in aluminium rolling and recycling expanded its research partnership with the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) Novelis Innovation Hub. The partnership aims to help the company achieve its goal of reaching a net zero carbon footprint by 2050.
The extension of the partnership will ensure further boost to artificial intelligence technologies and high throughput development methodologies. It will explore development of next generation EV batteries that makes use of aluminium. It aims to deliver improved performance of batteries through increased use of recycled aluminium.
In addition to continuing ongoing technical research, the extended partnership also targets to launch new strategic programs. These comprise of circular economy solutions, promotion of entrepreneurship and incubation of new ventures, aimed at driving commercialization of new aluminium products.
Raj Gopalaswamy, Global Technology Director of New Domains, Novelis Inc. commented that research partnership with world-leading institutions like Georgia Tech will accelerate development of transformative solutions that meet ambitious sustainability targets.
