SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Novelis, Inc.- the world’s leading rolled aluminum producer and aluminum recycler announced that it has made significant progress in its journey to earn Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI) certification in every region where it operates. The company achieved the prestigious certification for its manufacturing facilities in Europe, Asia nd South America. Additionally, the can manufacturing facilities in North America are expected to complete ASI certifications by mid-2022.

The company press release claimed that all 11 of the company’s European manufacturing sites have achieved Performance Standard and Chain of Custody Standard Certifications. Yeongju and Ulsan Aluminum- the joint venture operation with Kobe Steel in South Korea as well as the Pindamonhangaba, Brazil facilities have earned ASI's Performance Standard Certification.
Steve Fisher, President and Chief Executive Officer of Novelis noted that achieving ASI certification is a key strategy for the company to become the aluminum industry's most sustainable company and encourage others to follow its lead. These certifications clearly establish Novelis as a supplier of choice and a partner that is improving sustainability throughout the value chain, he added.
