SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Paper Excellence Canada- the parent company of Northern Pulp Nova Scotia warned that it may be forced to shut down the paper mill in Pictou County, if the provincial administration does not agree to extend the Boat Harbour deadline beyond 31st January, 2020.
Announcing the decision, Brian Baarda, chief executive officer of Paper Excellence Canada stated that Northern Pulp Nova Scotia will be forced to notify its workforce and suppliers, in case the deadline for use of the Boat Harbour effluent treatment facility is not extended by authorities. Consequently, the company will take necessary steps to shut down the facility, Baarda said. Further, the company noted that it will take approximately 18 months for constructing the new effluent treatment plant and the 15-kilometre pipeline towards discharge of the effluent.
