SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The new report published by the Upcyclers Network features ERI’s collaboration with HP and Best Buy in delivering an industry-leading printer that incorporates recycled plastic from printers. The nation’s leading e-waste recycler was featured in the ‘Closing the Loop for Printers’ section of the report titled “Closing the Material Loop-How Innovators from the Public and Private Sector are Creating Value from Waste”.
The Best Buy and HP recycling relationship started in 2012 with a program to recycle used ink cartridges. The companies came up with a custom coupon offer to bring in their used printers to recycle at Best Buy. Later Best Buy and HP partnered with ERI to source the recycled plastic printer shred for use in the new printers. Since the beginning of the coupon offer in 2016, Best Buy retail locations have collected over 300,000 printers for recycling.
John Shegerian, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of ERI stated that the company is extremely honored and privileged to be featured in the important report, thereby helping other industry participants to realize the importance of material recovery. The collaborative efforts undertaken by the company with HP and Best Buy has contributed significantly to building of a Circular Economy, he added.
The 121-page report provides real-life guidance on lessening our environmental footprint and supporting domestic manufacturers, through various solutions that keep materials and resources in use.
