SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): ND Paper, the U.S. subsidiary of Chinese containerboard producer Nine Dragons Paper (Holdings) Ltd. announced plans to restart PM 25 at its recycled paper mill in Biron, Wisconsin.
It is almost a year since the machine was idled in April of last year. It must be noted that ND Paper had acquired the Biron mill in 2018. The downtime had resulted in lay off of around 70 employees at the mill.

The company expects to restart the paper machine in the second half of the current year. This will deliver additional capacity to its existing recycled packaging product portfolio. PM 25 was rebuilt in 2019 and was converted from producing coated publication papers. The restarted machine will be capable of producing recycled containerboard and recycled kraft paper.
Earlier in 2022, ND Paper had converted PM 26 from producing coated publication papers to recycled packaging grades.
According to a company news release, the Biron, Wisconsin paper mill has established itself as a quality producer of packaging grades in the region, by processing various grades including mixed paper, old corrugated containers and double-lined kraft. The addition of capacity to PM 25 will help the company to serve more customers.
