Miami-Dade County, FL Plans Waste Disposal Complex at South Dade Landfill

SEATTLE (Waste Advantage): Miami-Dade County commissioners are expected to approve a $15 million professional services agreement for the transformation of the old South Dade Landfill into an updated Waste Facility Complex for the Department of Solid Waste Management. The project includes the preparation of a complete set of construction documents for a new Internal Services Department, a new transfer station building, a household hazardous waste collection center and a parking facility.

The new complex is to be constructed at the department’s old South Dade landfill west of 9350 SW 248th St. The contract will be with Ardurra Group Inc., a Miami-based consulting and engineering firm that provides a wide range of services to public and private entities throughout the United States. The company specializes in areas’ water, wastewater, and public works markets. Ardurra offers services including engineering, planning, environmental consulting, and construction management according to its website, ardurra.com.

The job is penciled in for 1,825 days, just short of five years. A report by Mayor Daniella Levine Cava to county commissioners states that a top priority in the project is a new tipping floor.
