SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Southside Recycling has filed a lawsuit in Illinois state court seeking a final permit for the company’s metal recycling facility in southeast Chicago from the City authorities. The final permit is required for the company to begin operations at the facility.

As per the lawsuit, the City authorities have denied the permit, despite acknowledging that it has satisfied all the required conditions. It also seeks to prohibit the city from interfering in lawful use of the property by the company. In addition, it also pursues damages in excess of $100 million from the city.
Earlier, Southside Recycling and its parent company RMG Investment Group LLC had filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in Chicago with the same language. The judge had terminated the lawsuit last month, stating that the arguments in the lawsuit are better suited for state court. Following this, the company terminated the federal lawsuit and sought for a ruling from a state court in its favour.
The company stated that it will continue to fight for its rights to deliver responsible metal recycling operations to its Chicago customers. Meantime, it refused to provide additional comments on the lawsuit filed in the state court.
