Earlier, the company was exclusively featured in a daily, which alleged that the facility was involved in dismantling and melting e-waste that are being smuggled in denial of existing rules. As per the report, the facility does not possess necessary valid permit from the Department of Environment to run e-waste processing operations.
The MACC assured that it will thoroughly look into the operations of the facility and conduct a comprehensive investigation on the matter, including how the prohibited waste entered the country’s ports. The e-waste contains harmful components, which will pose serious threat to human and aquatic lives, if not disposed safely.
