SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading steelmaker Liberty Steel has partnered with Khalifa University to extend an in vitiation to all postgraduate and Ph.D. students, as well as alumni across the world, to contribute innovative proposals aimed at promoting decarbonisation in steelmaking process. The winners of the Adaptability Quotient (AQ) Challenge will be rewarded with cash prizes and an exclusive opportunity to present their proposal in the upcoming COP28 in Dubai this December.
The theme for the contest is ‘Energy Efficiency and Circularity in the Steel Industry’, which represents a fusion between advanced engineering and sustainable practice. The theme aligns with the Liberty Steel’s CN30 roadmap, which aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030. Teams of up to 3 students, including alumni or individual participants are allowed. The last date of submission of proposal entry is 2nd October, 2023.
The date of final award will be December 8th, 2023. The first, second and third prize winners will get cash awards of USD $30K, USD $15K, and USD $5K respectively. In addition, the winner of the first prize will receive an incubation opportunity for their idea at one of Liberty Steel’s global hubs in 2024.
