SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Liberty Steel Group announced key operational updates on its global steelmaking facilities.
For the quarter ended 30th June, 2021, Liberty Galati in Romania reported EBITDA of EUR 84 million. This is significantly higher by 60% over the previous quarter. The plant reported strong growth in turnover and shipments.
Liberty Steel Ostrava in the Czech Republic recorded 35% surge in EBITDA over the prior quarter to EUR 103 million. This is the plant’s best performance since 2011. The shipment of steel products totalled 684,000 tonnes, recording marked improvement of 12% quarter-on-quarter. The revenues more than doubled when matched with the corresponding quarter in 2020.

Liberty Steel CzÄ™stochowa in Poland reported positive EBITDA of €7.1 million for the month of July. The slab production shot up from 16,000 tonnes in January to 57,000 tonnes in July this year. The heavy plate output from rolling mills too was up significantly, the company press release said.
The Magona mill in Italy has fully restarted. Meantime, the Liberty Steel U.S. reported strong earnings of $28.1 million. The volumes surged higher by around 40,000 tonnes, driven by strong domestic as well as overseas markets.
