SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The negotiation talks between labor union representatives and company management to end the strike at Tata Steel Ijmuiden plant has ended without result. Consequently, the ongoing strike action at the Dutch plant will continue until further notice, labor union said.
According to labour union Federatie Nederlandse Vakbeweging (FNV), the talks were disappointing and that it remained inconclusive. The management asked for more time to respond to the demands put forward by the union. It is quite disturbing that the union did not receive a response from the management. The action committee will discuss the mode of strike action, said Roel Berghuis, Director of FNV Metaal.

The union has been against integrating the Dutch unit with Tata Steel UK and transfer of profits to it. Also, it has been demanding assurances with regards to security of jobs and implementation of a robust strategic plan.
The recent statement published by the company states that its European operations are currently operating at 70% of their capacity. The domestic steel demand continues to be impacted by slowdown in activity in key steel consuming sectors such as automotive and construction industry.
