SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): JSW Steel crude steel output totalled 5.07 million tonnes in Q2 FY22. The above output is inclusive of production at Bhushan Power & Steel (BSPL) and JSW Ispat Special Products (JISPL). This is significantly higher by 29% compared with the corresponding quarter a year before. The company’s output had totalled 3.92 million tonnes in Q2 FY21. When compared with the prior quarter, the group steel output remained flat.

The standalone capacity utilization stood at 91% during the quarter. The JSW Steel Vijayanagar works had undergone planned shutdown on account of coverter repairs, whereas Salem works had taken annual shutdown of one of its blast furnaces. The lowered quarterly production was mainly on account of reduced output at Raipur due to power plant maintenance shutdown and blast furnace shutdown at Raigarh.
On a standalone basis, it recorded 21% crude steel production growth over the previous year during the initial half of the fiscal year. The steel group level growth stood at 45% year-on-year. The standalone and consolidated production during H1 FY22 was 8.20 million tonnes and 10.14 million tonnes respectively.
