SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): JSW Group has entered into an exclusive strategic agreement with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai to set up a state-of-the-art Technology Hub for steel manufacturing in India.
The JSW Technology Hub will be established within The Centre of Excellence in Steel Technology (CoEST). The hub’s primary objective will be to advance expanded production of high quality steel, while limiting carbon emissions to stipulated levels, said the statement issued by the company. The partnership will allow JSW Group to accelerate the research and development (R&D) initiatives in steel sector. In addition, the hub will act as a nodal point for its research activities beyond the steel domain.

As per agreement, the financial and technical support to establish and build the Technology Hub will be provided by JSW Group. It will be constructed using JSW Neosteel rebars. The construction is expected to be completed by FY2028.
IIT Bombay and JSW Group will undertake joint research projects and technical activities on various aspects of steel manufacturing and its use. Also, the proposed Sajjan Jindal Steel Professor Chair will focus on training and research on new and emerging technologies in steel manufacturing.
