January 6, 2025: The Index Showed a Mixed Trend in Chinese Scrap Metal Prices

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): The Chinese scrap metal prices recorded mixed trend on the ScrapMonster Price Index  as of Monday, January 6, 2025. Copper, Stainless Steel, and Brass/Bronze scrap prices recorded increase over the previous day. Aluminum scrap prices edged lower on the Index. However, Steel scrap prices held steady.

Copper Scrap Prices

The #1 Copper Bare Bright prices jumped by CNY 600 per MT over the previous day.

#1 Copper Wire and Tubing too saw price increase of CNY 600 per MT.

The price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing also were up by CNY 600 per MT.

#1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery prices recorded increase by CNY 300 per MT on the Index. The price of #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery prices were up by CNY 100 per MT over the previous day.

Copper Transformer scrap prices were up marginally by CNY 50 per MT over the prior day’s prices.

Cu Yokes and Cu/Al Radiator prices were up by CNY 50 per MT and CNY 100 per MT respectively on the Index.

Harness Wire 35% Recovery prices recorded an increase by CNY 50 per MT as of Monday, January 6, 2025.

Heater Cores prices edged higher by CNY 250 per MT.

Also, Scrap Electric Motors and Sealed Units prices increased by CNY 50 per MT on the Index.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

6063 Extrusions witnessed a decline of CNY 300 per MT over the previous day.

Aluminum Ingots too were down by CNY 300 per MT.

The prices of Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Transformers recorded a decline of CNY 150 per MT each on the Index.

E.C Aluminum Wire prices were down by CNY 300 per MT.

Old Cast and Old Sheet prices also declined by CNY 300 per MT each as of January 6, 2025.

The prices UBC and Zorba 90% INF fell by CNY 150 per MT each when compared with the previous day’s price.

Steel Scrap Prices

#1 HMS prices held steady as of Monday, January 6, 2025.

Cast Iron Scrap reported no change in prices.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

201 SS prices witnessed no change on the Index.

304 SS Solid prices also unchanged over the previous day.

The price of 304 SS Turning recorded no variation.

309 SS and 316 SS Solid prices increased by CNY 50 per MT each when compared with the prior day’s price.

310 SS scrap prices edged higher by CNY 100 per MT as of January 6, 2025.

Shred SS prices were flat on the Index.

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

The Brass/Bronze Scrap prices in China recorded marginal increase on the Index.

Brass Radiator scrap prices were up by CNY 50 per MT as of January 6, 2025.

Red Brass and Yellow Brass prices witnessed an increase of CNY 100 per MT each.
