SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Vancouver, Canada-headquartered Ivanhoe Mines announced that it had achieved a new daily production record at the Kamoa-Kakula Copper Complex in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
According to Robert Friedland, Executive Co-Chairman, and Marna Cloete, President, the Phase 1, 2, and 3 concentrators produced a combined daily production record of 2,096 tonnes of copper on the last day of August. In addition, the concentrators set records for combined monthly production and milling during the previous month, producing 40,347 tonnes of concentrate and 1.1 million tonnes, respectively.
Year-to-date, the Kamoa-Kakula Copper Complex has recorded a combined production of approximately 263,000 tonnes of copper. It should be recalled that the business had previously stated that it expected to produce between 440,000 and 490,000 tons of copper this year.
The ramp-up of the Phase 3 concentrator to a steady state of production is under progress, with 350,000 tonnes of ore milled during August. Towards the end of the preceding month, the average daily milling rate approached the nameplate annualized processing rate of 5 million tonnes.
