SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) published the new export procedures by the Indonesian Embassy for exporters of scrap into the country. The new registration process is applicable to exporters of all scrap commodities and to exporters in all countries across the globe. Earlier, the government had decided to regulate scrap imports into the country.
The scrap exporters are now required to provide a set of documents for the registration process. This includes an authorized Certificate of Good Standing authorized by the Secretary of State, a notarized letter of statement, a completely filled-in and signed application form, a company profile and articles of association or certificate of incorporation. The exporter applications must be accompanied by a money order of $125, a return envelope and a prepaid airway bill with tracking number.

The email copies of all the above documents have to be sent to the Embassy. In addition, the original Certificate of Good Standing, notarized letter and the application form must be submitted in any of Indonesia’s offices in the U.S.
Under normal circumstances, it may take around five business days from the date of receipt of complete set of documents, for the registration process to get completed. Additional delays on account of Covid-19 are anticipated.
There has been no clarity on whether the scrap exporting companies need to apply only once for the registration or has to do the same repeatedly for each export.
